About Me:

I'm eager to meet some of you in a future retreat!!... and have a taste of the group energy it can generate.
Since I know about gnosticism, I found it sometimes difficult to have a normal, typical conversation with people about unimportant, superficial matters. Can't we talk about the real things?...

Hi Nadine,

I have tried seeing the pictures in your profile but lately I seem to be having some problems with seeing people's pictures. I would like to see them but unfortunately at the moment I'm not able. I will keep trying to fix it.

Wow those are quite a few Rach pieces. I was familiar with all of them except for the Sonata for Cello and Piano, thanks for making me discover it :-)

Rachmaninoff left recordings of a few of his pieces and all his piano concerts apparently, they can be quite nice to listen to. I have the concerts and the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini on CD, but you can find them all on YouTube as far as I know (it's just the recordings with pictures, it would've been great to have actual video recordings of him playing though).

I never heard of Bernd Glemser nor could I find anything of him but will have to check his playing of the Rach 3 one day. I recently found a new interpretation of it by an amateur pianist called Thomas Yu and even though he makes a few mistakes, it's personally the best interpretation I have heard to date, it's not rushed, it's felt, very melodic and enjoyable.

If you listen to La Campanella, Arthur Rubinstein's playing of it is probably one of the best ones, there are so many pianists that play these pieces but so few of them can actually be good, and the interpretation is so important. If you like La Campanella you might like the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 also by Liszt but I'm not sure what versions out there are good and well played (some people play variations of the original which aren't as good). Will try to find out.

When you say that all this time what you were searching for was to understand the mysteries of life and the universe, I can almost hear myself saying it. I always felt that since I was a child, and because of it I always had a keen interest in both the spiritual and physics, and always knew I wanted to study physics. However over time as I have been studying it I have become increasingly disappointed at how it tries to solve and understand those mysteries.

I better stop now before this gets too long. You know maybe it would be best to speak through e-mail instead of each other's guestbooks, I was thinking otherwise we might just “plague” each other's guestbooks with countless posts on music and gnosis :-D

You can write to me at mithrandir_cat@yahoo.com if you like. It's not my main address but I'd rather not post it in public. I can give you my main address from that one.

Take care and all the best!

Pau

Hi Nadine,

Well don't be jealous of the nature here, I have never been to Canada but I'm sure that there must be some very nice nature in and around Montreal too :-)

I have had the sheet music for Rach 2 and 3 for years, but same as you only used it to read while it was playing, maybe I'd imagine I was the one playing it in front of an audience but it looks so extremely difficult! Unfortunately I only did 2 or 3 years of music school so I am nowhere near the level required (would require some extra 7 years of piano teaching). Also have the sheet music for Tchaikovsky's 1st Piano Concerto and Liszt's La Campanella which I really like but they are so difficult also.

What is your favorite interpretation of Rach 3? I listened to many years ago, but my favorite is obviously a recording I happen to have of Rachmaninoff himself from around 1940. It's in mono and the quality isn't great but he plays so much better than anybody else I've heard and you can tell he was so extremely skilled.

It is not easy being away from a center but there is a lot to learn from being on my own as well. Unfortunately I don't have any friends here that are interested, so I'm entirely on my own and the only contact I have is with a couple of people I know in Skype or via e-mail.

Thank you for your well wishes and I also wish you lots of strength!

Pau

Hi Tehuti,

thanks for the answer even if I don't understand much because I'm not familiar with those things...
Thanks anyway lol

Hello Green,

That's cool you're in naturopathic studies. I once spent a whole day with a naturopathic doctor at his office, because at the time I was strongly considering becoming a naturopathic doctor. At the time, though, that would have required alot of changes that seemed too drastic for my life.

Anyways, I'm glad you're able to do those studies. Do you plan to become a doctor? .. or do some other type of naturopathic work?

Vance

Hi Green!

2012 is the year of passing from the old Pisces aeon into the Aquarian aeon. The dimensional shift of ages, The age of Horus the Avenger, Zep Tepi (Golden Age in ancient egyptian), Satya Yuga (Golden Age in indian sanskrit), the Age of Revealing,...
There are no definite determination of what will generally happen. Theories and speculations are common for that matter. I also have my own theories. The cosmic revolutionary movement and dance of the celestial bodies are just one of the possible changes at the end of this aeon.

Humans are not so tasty. I don't like to eat humans.
