For me, I just used a candle with no pentacle granted the spell only lasted about 10-15 minutes. I know nothing about wiccan magic I was just snooping around something that looked interesting, but from what I understand a pentacle amplifies energy, and a candle is immense energy, so putting a candle in the middle of a pentacle would have the spell last much longer i'd think.
