Hi It seems that the new forums whether its public or course forums they are worse than the previous old public and course forums from few months ago. Not only that the new public and course forums is a lot more uglier and more difficult on our eyes and poorly organized. There is just too much stuff on each single webpage that I have accessed. Even when I write some topics or comments in the forums, it seems that the letters in the small box are disappearing on the right side of the computer screen. Have anyone noticed this? I can't even tell if I typed it or not unless I have to backspace a couple of times to check it. Whoever designed this website it's better to keep it more simple and use the old website design. It saves you time, less effort and if you need to add a few things then just create another link to another page. Dont put everything in one page. I am quite a frequent internet user and I have never seen soo much stuff in one webpage. This is my opinion.

There is alot going on with this new site to bring things that just couldn't be done with the old one.

I personally tend to agree with the forum layout but it doesn't mean that it can't change. It's still early days yet and all the bug issues are being ironed out and the cosmetics improved, plus alot more features are on the way.

The main advantage with this version is the way content is managed, allowing say teachers and not just IT gurus to update it, keeping it fresh and active. It's easier to work on and way more flexible. Plus students can create content, comments etc. and everything is more human and personal.

I think your post will very likely be read and considered by moderators, but also likely that they are already aware of the issues and working very hard on them.

I have been with gnosticweb for a long time now and I have seen many versions of gnosticweb.com. With each new change I have thought to myself: it was better before, in the good old days. But with time, you get use to the new version of the page, the new version of a course and so on. Changes in our beloved gnosticweb community are great ways of studying oneself.

After reading your comments, I guess we should wait and see how this website turns out. I am more concerned about the public and course forums layout then the rest of the stuff in the website.

Thanks David

Perhaps I mainly posted so that I could remind myself of this simple truth ?

I am also very nostalgic about the old (previous) site, i really do miss it. It was just the overall impression that i got for the old site and the way things worked. But i really do like the expanded content of the new site, and im sure we will get used to the new site in time, we just need to give it time so that all the new stuff is added. There is much more content now (on the way) which will make the site more approachable by new students. Overall, i think the Gnosticweb team is doing a great job.

I must admit I do harbour some nostalgia for the old website as well. Upon thinking on that though its not so much the look and presentation of what was but rather what was gained from within it. The lovely community who are so warm and helpful and a Course System that taught things of such rich value.
All these things havent changed, there just slowly being incorporated into a different medium. One that will make things more personal and interactive and be able to give more of all those things that we loved so much from the old site.
I cant wait for this site to reach full operation as I have a feeling the benefits in the future will far out way any current inconvenience.
All the best everyone.

Hi,

I also think the colors in the previous layout were better, but the main advantage of this version is that one can start building a community with some students we want to get to know better. In this way, I think we will come closer together.

We also have the opportunity to keep a blog, which I think is a good way of keeping track of our successes and failures, with the added advantage that people can comment, what might offer a new angle to the question.

Also the added video and audio material could be great (depending on what they put).

So, I am very happy with the new site. Especially with the possibility to build a real community of online gnostic friends.
Thumbs up :-)

Olivier.

I second the last few posts here, I think the site is going to be incredible when everything is up and running. It's already pretty good :)
