Everytime I try to meditate or relax I find my back starts hurting and/or my mind wanders. I feel this is hampering my ability to move forward. That is why I am taking the astral course for the 3rd time. Can anyone help me with this? ~~jax

Have you taken the self-discovery course? If not you should. This might help you even more in focusing and discovering egos before they appear.

Try duality. Try thinking the opposite of whatever your mind thinks.

My personal favorite is i think "what will be my next thought?" And usually for a little while my mind is blank, and then I'll repeat the question.

Keep something to focus on, and keep practicing.

I pray you have patience and much strength

Hello Jax.

I have had three back operations and consider myself an expert on back pain. Currently I have a lot of trouble with spiritual exercises and physical limitations due to this. IE I cant lay flat on my bed for long periods or do awareness walks most days.

A few years ago I bought a good recliner with head support and I meditate in that and after a few sessions got used to it pritty well.

I may not be completely flat or stretched out in that chair but I have hit the vibrational stages many times in it so there seems to be no limitation due to that. More important I can sit in it fall asleep in it trance for hours without any pain.

If you have alot of trouble with a wandering mind make sure you have had enough sleep as I find that can hinder my practices extremely. I have found a nap during the day and meditate an hour or two after that very effective.

Back when I could do awareness walks every day I found it very helpful to meditate as soon as I got home. The combining of these two exercises really help in making it easier to control the mind in the trance practice as you have been doing it for the last 20-30 min and are already in 'The Zone'.

One other tip that also works for me to get the most out of your awareness walk. Do it slowly with much conviction.

Best of luck Jax I hope this helps to some degree.

Hi Jax,

One thing I learned on the courses that helps with this is to bring order to the mind by focusing on each activity I do throughout the day (i.e., instead of multi-tasking and/or thinking about other things while doing an activity). It can be difficult at first, but if you try doing this for at least a couple of activities a day, you'll start to see the difference. It helps train the mind to be focused.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I am going to try some of those. I know they we written ages ago, but I've been very disconnected from my spiritual growth (not by choice) So now that I have the time and energy I am going to try!

Hi Jax,

I actually found that I benefitted more from the peace within course rather than the astral one. Have you ever used koans? They work well with me but the effect wears off after a few times.
