hey, well, I think i am doing it but not fully though... here what happened...I went to sleep and I decided to try projecting. I cleared my mind from my thoughts and i concentraded on my breath... (still trying to find a solution to stop swaloing all the time- if anyone has one pls say it :) )At a moment suddently my eyes opened and i was staring above me (at least i think that my eyes opened, dont know if i was seeing through my eyelids)... anyway, I felt a little frigthened and when i exhaled the breath i felt lifting up in the air and my breathing sound too loud! Then I got scared and I was pulled back in bed...:(Think this was an astral projection at early stages though. Can anyone recomend anything to help me not to terrify each time this happens ? (it happened twice... :/ )thx...-=Lion=- |

It sounds like you had an experience! Congratulations!
We are really the only judges of our experiences so it just takes being very honest with ourselves as to what happened, and if we're not sure, all the more reason to keep investigating!
I don't think there's anything I can say other then don't be scared hehe... That's very normal at first... I once even stopped myself from projecting when I started because I was afraid... What a wasted opportunity! Just try to remain calm and in time you'll become familiar with the process and it'll be a matter of trying not to get excited rather then afraid. If you've done the astral course make sure you use the conjurations and circle of protection before you go to bed.
As far as the swallowing goes, I used to do that a bit... I never did concentrating on breath though. Maybe try concentrating on your heart beat (that is taught on the course), that might help take some attention away from your throat, and just breath naturally, don't focus on it.
The eyelids thing's interesting. I once had an experience with a friend and I was asleep and I was dreaming i was lying on her bed then she walked in and I saw her. I looked straight at her in my sleep with my eyes closed... then I woke up and opened them and she was standing there as I saw her in the astral. Was a very good experience for me that left me with lots of questions!
Good luck in your projections Lion Heart!

Swallowing is quite a popular problem.
It is the way our egos try to spoil our practices, I find, because usually when we fall asleep, or during the day, it doesn't happen, but look, when the time comes for AP, we start to swallow like we are about to eat our favourite meal.
Thus for myself it doesn't bother me much anymore -I realized that it is an obstacle, I want to project, so I just don't pay attention to it, and that's it.
Congratulation with your experience!
It is very good.
Experiences will get better and will come more often if you will keep practicing with a lot of determination. Fear goes away with experiences, because then, with practices, we actually realize that astral is not a scary thing. No.
It is fun besides all the usefulness!
All the best!

That's great that you made it and are keeping up with your practices!
Regarding the fear, it will help to really work on being in awareness throughout the day. It will help to prepare you for facing fear at night. If you have taken the Searching Within course, try to use the tools taught there to become detached from that fear when it does arise. Then, you can simply acknowledge it for what it is and keep getting up and exploring the astral.
If you feel comfortable, you could try praying for help with these particular problems when you do your practices. I have had a lot of obstacles and found that praying really does help. Just praying that you won't be fooled by the fear again may help.
Good luck!

Hello Vadim,
you mentionned, you stopped paying attention to the swallowing. Did the need go away, or do you still swallow, but pay no attention to it?

Hi Blogalot,
From what I experience, dealing with swallowing has a certain stages in it.
In the first stage, it's important to learn how not to pay attention to swallowing and keep with the practice.
On the later stage, with persisting not to pay attention to swallowing, the "need" to swallow just stops and disappears.
Producing saliva is not really needed for astral projection...just one of the egos to deal with.
All the best, good luck with the practices!
