Not allowing Ego's to control me is a struggle that I do not mind facing if in the end I recieve freedom. In daily life we deal with all sorts of different personalities. My question is a simple one; How do we not allow people to take advantage of our kindness, our meekness when in the struggle of remaining calm and not allowing Ego's to contort our emotions? When people come at you with anger and confrontation?

Hi Anais,

Acting without the egos allows us to be calm within and to act with serenity, but it doesn't require us to be completely passive.

If someone comes at us with anger, we can respond to them in the necessary way without anger on our part.

If someone is treating us badly or putting us in an unpleasant situation, we don't just have to accept it. It is possible to stand up for ourselves, be assertive, etc. without egos. It certainly requires practice.

To give an example, in a class I was taking, a professor of mine was being extremely rude to many of the kids in the class and also making jokes that stirred up a lot of egos. In this case, I wrote a letter to the professor, politely asking that they stop with that sort of attitude because it was not appropriate. The class soon became quite enjoyable.

In this case the right thing to do seemed to be to write a letter, but in other scenarios I have had to speak to people directly, too. By acting without the egos I still got the point across and the problem was resolved.

Best wishes!

That sounds like the right route. I believe I was given a real life scenario of this subject in order to learn from in, just minutes ago. A friend of the family was being assertive and condescending towards me about a certain subject and while trying to be aware during our conversation, I got my point across while still hearing his. And like you said, it ended on a positive note. By staying true to my frame of mind I was able to stay strong and clear while still listening. Thank you. =)

Hi Anais,

That's really great to hear - real life is great for those learning opportunities.

With the awareness, even if our views conflict with those of others there isn't a need for anger, and we can still listen :)

All the Best!

Hi Anais,

I have found so many situations like this and it takes time and little more effort to gain our inner peace/awareness. You will find great teaching if you and I wish you must read Page 30 of Revolution of the Dialectic by Master Samael Aun Weor. You could download from this website itself.

Its very instinctive of us to react immediately with anger when we confront anger. Thats what we have learnt after all these years from birth. Everybody does that and we do that. But in gnosis we are taught that there is a better way to be when someone confronts us with anger. There is no need to pick the same anger impressions. And it lot good if we dont. Have a read at this chapter and you will soon find yourself the wisdom to remain aware while confronting anger remarks/persons.

Much strength,
Juliana
