hi all, since i couldn't find any food choices/recipes topic on this forum, i would like to seek your individual humble opinion or sharing on this topic.'the act of eating can be a powerful statement of commitment to our own well being, and at the same to the creation of a healthier world' from john robbins' diet for a new americai wasn't aware that eating pork based foods can be harmfull towards our spiritual work (as it will pollutes our sexual energy), untill found this work. i also wasn't so sure when i was told about this at the first time, and did a bit of experiment. after a few days of pork eating, my ego of lusts were having their big day out, rampaging all their way out throught out a week or more. ego of lust - one of the biggest main hurdles, yet, to be overcome on this works.our modern societies have been tempted into over eating disorder, as more people, eat more as they get more stress. not according to their dietary needs. any favourite food recipes / lifestyles / critics that you can think about and would like to share it in this forums, will be much appreciated

Yes, I also heard about pork from this website. Since then I have attempted not to eat it. It was funny because one day, I went to get pizza with a co-worker, and instinctually ordered peperoni, wen tback and actually took a bite before I realized and then proceeded to pick them off. The pizza was good none the less, not exactly healthy though? =)

I've been thinking about this a lot lately, because I dont lead the healthiest life, which is impacting my relationship to my body, how I feel and how my body functions and giving me allergies and other reactions. Some of the things I have decided to do are:

1. Learn to eat a high fibre, healthy breakfast. Usually I just skip it or eat junk.
2. Drink green tea and take spirulina supplements.
3. Have a fortifier, 1 tsp honey and 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar in warm water as soon as I wake.
4. Eat salads for lunch.
5. No sweets during the week.
6. Eat lots of lean proteins, fresh vegetables and fruit and wholegrains.
7. Exercise

Everyones body is different though, if you're feeling unhealthy, maybe you can go and see a naturopath? I'm thinking of doing that to put myself on the fast track to healing my body :)

Great advices Ahona,
I was thinking about something like this for a while and here it is.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Anais,

It will be explained more in the Gnostic Wisdom course, but just a few points here: even if we pick it up, we still can be effected, if it was cooked in the same oven, it still can have an effect, if it is a part of additive -still can have an effect, etc.

Personally, I realy didn't want to take this issue seriously because it makes things more complicated, but after many negative experiences, I became careful.

From other hand, I find that we have to watch for not making a phobia out of it though.

Hi, gnosticality, and everyone else!

There's a copy of John Robbin's "Diet for a New World" sitting above my head.

I believe and feel without doubt that a diet based on life giving foods such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, and grains (the four food groups) is pivotal in spiritual development. As it is said, "you are what you eat." I feel this applies to animal consumption, and more of course. Let me explain a little.

When a life is killed suddenly and without warning, for example a person, there is energy left over, hence a possible negative energy inside a house or place of death, full of fear, confusion, and aggression waiting to feel alive again. When we consume an animal that has been killed we are not just consuming its dead flesh, we are also consuming its fear, and any other negative energy heightened in its death. Thus, "you are what you eat" spritually as well as physically. Life in gardens and plants in the wild is filled with peace and tranquility, so by consuming these alone we are indeed feeding positive, peaceful energies inside of ourselves. This can be viewed easily. Compare the state of mind between herbivores and carnivores. The plant eating animal, such as a deer, is ultimately at peace, it's calm, and generally avoids conflict, unless provoked, and it eats plants. The carnivorous animal is filled with aggression, territoriality, and will occasionally maul other animals just for the pleasure, and it eats animal flesh.

Here's a scenario. Maybe this is inside John Robbin's book or another but it is a good scenario. Give a child an apple and a chicken. Most likely, the child will eat the apple and play with the chicken. The thought of eating a live animal, to a small child is usually condusive to tears.

Vegetarianism not only promotes health, but life itself. Her's a line I read from a Buddhist teaching (don' remember where) that has stuck with me for a long time. "You respect your life and your own survival, why not respect the life and survival of life outside of yourself?" It's not word for word but the meaning is the same.

I really believe that taking the time to live a vegetarian lifestyle is just as important and takes just as much devotion as any aspect of gnosis. Over a period of time, not much, you can feel amazing change. When eating meat and other junk food, I never felt as lively and charged as I do now. Over time, my craving for meat went away, and now the thought of eating it is inconceivable.

Personally, I think a diet geared towards vegetarianism is healthier than a diet that is meat-based, but, I enjoy meat and get really tired when I'm not eating enough of it, so I do so.

The main problem I see with meat, is not that we eat it, because human beings were born omnivorous, but the conditions in which the animals are raised as well as how cruelly they are killed.

Learning to have a better relationship to your body is hard, it brings up all sorts of egos. For me, my addiction to sugar rears its head, as well as my oh my god, youre so fat egos!

Hey, Ahona! :)

I used to eat a lot of sweet things all the time but lately maybe an year ago I decreased them a lot just because every time I eat something sweet like chocolate, cake or biscuits it makes me feel like I will throw up and I don't feel well throughout the day.

Once I didn't eat for 2-3 weeks to say and I told this is enough time and I can try one cake coz my friends invited me but after I ate a half of it the feeling appeared again and I regreted I have thought I can do this. :)
So my organism has reached a point in which refuses the sweet.

I have a friend that eats all kinds of sweet things and sometimes I wonder how she doesn't give up from it coz there are times she eats a lot of it in a day. :)

I have heard from my father that there are ingredients in the meat that can't be provided by other way and as Ahona pointed out your power decreases and you feel more tired than before.

Goodluck with the battle with the sugar Ahona! ;)

Do they talk about what food is good to eat on this course, maybe someone should mention it to a moderator. I will after writing this. This is important because I have been eating haphazardly my whole life. I go from one degree to the other and Its imbalanced. As of now, I eat only when I am hungry, and not whenever I see food.

As a side note, Maybe I should not rely on the website so much for everything. There are some things that I canr esearch on my own.

Thanks all!

Hi everyone

In the secret knowledge hidden wisdom book is a topic about
eating pork, but somewhere in the question & answer part there
is also a karmic reason mentioned for eating badly treated
animals.

This link was in another post, it is about e-numbers that are
pork based.
http://special.worldofislam.info/Food/numbers.html

I personally do not have a real diet, i just look out for things that are fresh, so i go to the markets and buy my things there.
I take care that i eat some vegetables and fruits each day and
i drink a lot of green and black tea. From time to time i use my
bread-machine to get some fresh bread.

Hi everyone,

One thing that helps me a lot is to drink enough water and stay hydrated throughout the day. I cut caffeine out of my diet several months ago and this helped a lot, as well. Both seem to have the effect of keeping me energized more consistently instead of hitting low periods. The low periods seem to make it easier for mental laziness and egos to creep in.

I don't think this can be over-emphasized, so cutting pork out of my diet made a substantial difference in improving the spiritual work, overall. Pork is also just hard for the body to digest anyway and puts a lot of strain on the body each time we consume it, according to experts.

Ahona, I agree about meat. I try to buy organic meats in less quantities (since it's more $) to increase the demand for these products...the way things are going, with more suppliers offering organic products, hopefully things will start to change and it will just become the norm to treat animals humanely.

When the diet is first switched immediately from meat consumption to vegetarianism there is going to be an energy downfall at first because your physiology was used to consume meat. Plus, your body will be directing much energy to purifying the body of harmful toxins and germs depending on your diet, not just from meat. Switching to a vegetarian diet promotes a very healthy diet, mostly organic, no sugar; realize the benefits of honey. Once your body begins to get used to processing the vegetarian diet, I swear your body will thank you for it so much. People have rid their body of cancer by going vegetarian.

Our Mother Earth provides our diet. We are made from the dust and to dust our body will return. So everything we need comes directly from the earth. Our food, our balms, our health, Yeshua's miraculous cures. All nine essential amino acids that the body needs to survive can all be found in one form or another in a vegetarian diet. Provided by the Earth.

I do not believe a bit that we are omnivorous. No way. In the perfect world is predator still going to hunt its prey? We need to stop killing animals. We are supposed to be their caretakers. If your neighbor asked you to watch over their house would you rob it? Not if you're a good caretaker. I'd rather animals be treated cruelly and get killed for meat because that death would be no surprise to them. But let's treat them all sweet with a luxurious lifestyle then, WHACK! Come on! That's cruelty, deception, wolf in sheeps clothing, masquerading as an angel kind of evil. I do not like people treating animals cruelly, but I don't see how eating them can be justified as not being cruel.

Our human physiology more closely resembles an herbivores rather than an omnivore or a carnivore. A bear is an omnivore. Look at its teeth and compare them to our teeth. Even our canines are more rounded and dull rather than sharp. Face it, we're not meant to eat meat. And in a perfect world NOTHING will be eating meat. So why not start now? Did you know that a predator has a very short digestive tract and lots of hydrochloric acid to digest meat? Did you know that humans have a very long digestive tract and not nearly as much hydrochloric acid to digest meat? Do you know that meat will putrify in your body before it's digested? You're essentially eating rotten meat. This is why sweat smells, farts stink, etc. By going vegetarian the body is pure, life feeds life, death feeds death. When the body processes vegetables, fruits, etc. they are still alive while being digested. Life.

Next time you sit down to a big steak, even organic, imagine it as it was in the pasture under the sun, breathing like you and me, and then think about how it was people that stole this from him and put a bullet in its head. Cutting off life because we are hungry. Sometimes they don't die on the first try, so on the second they make sure the animal will die by slicing the jugular, to bleed it out. Thou shalt not kill. People? Dogs and cats? Pigs? Cows? Birds? Each are revered in different cultures. We think it's terrible that there are cultures that eat dogs. There are cultures that think its terrible to eat cows.

Let's begin to make the world a happy place. Let's begin to bring the world on a course to perfection. We are treating our Mother Earth very poorly and ridding her of its life. The perfect world is a tangible thing, not of fantasy.
