I don't have any major sensory impairments, but could imagine that one with a major impairment like blindness or deafness would be at a major advantage telling dreams apart from physical reality. I.e., if you see something in a dream, then you know you are either dreaming or miraculously received your sight. Since, the former is more likely, you could easily tell when you are dreaming.Does anyone know about this firsthand or secondhand? It would be interesting to read what dreams are like for deaf and/or blind people. Paralyzed people may have an advantage as well in this area. Even though people are paralyzed in sleep by a chemical emitted by the brain, you can still astrally move in dreams, which a paralyzed person could use as a sign that a dream is occuring.Do blind people see things in their dreams? Deaf people hear things? If so, I"d assume lucidity would come naturally for them.I don't believe disabilities exist in the spiritual realms as they do the physical. Even though some are said to be spiritually blind or deaf, this is more caused by a distraction from the physical than the spirit/astral body itself being incapacitated. So I think all should be able to see in their dreams if it truly is astral. |

I don't have any experience with this or know someone who is blind or deaf, but I would think dreams (meaning the way they seem) would be the same for everyone. I don't have the greatest vision without my contacts in, as I am near sighted and could not see anything clearly past about 7 feet in front of me without my contacts in. In the astral though I see fine without my contacts in. The difference is in the physical we see with our physical eyes, in the astral, we see with our astral eyes, the eyes that are in our astral body. So I would think it would be the same for a deaf person too, that they would be able to hear. So it is quite possible that they have dream where they have all the senses.
It would be possible though, for them to dream with those impairments, I mean, to have the same impairments in their dreams, because the subconcious could influence it and shut out all images and block their vision.
all the best

As a matter of fact, I think talking triggered my latest lucid dream experience.
I have pretty bad eyesight as well. My dreams are always heavily visual, and I can see most things clearly, depending on the dream.

Hi InnerSelf
Actually I can really give you a good answer to your curiousity. I am hard of hearing, meaning that I wear a hearing aid. Without it, I cannot really hear. But I tell you, everytime I go to bed, I never ever wake up from dreams because I suddently could hear without my hearing aid. In fact, I wasn't even aware that I could hear or that I was in the astral. I had a friend who was completely deaf and he never had any wake up astral experiences.
So the bottom line is that it doesn't matter if somebody is blind or deaf or normal, because if that person is not conciously aware of himself or around him, then he is likely not realize or being aware that he can actually hear without the hearing aid.
So this is why awareness is so important.

I've got a question about this blindness thing. One time during a dream, my eyesight started getting blurry, why did it do that? (i wear glasses)
