Not that I'm giving up yet on astral projection, but it is getting a bit frustrating (I'm about to finish my third week in the book and I have not yet left the body). Is AP the key to Gnosis, or can one walk the spiritual path in the physical? How important is it (from the standpoint of practicing Gnosis) to be able to project? Thanks,Mike |

Astral Projection is not 'the key' to Gnosis, but it is so beneficial, motivational, educational and inspiring that it is worth putting a lot of effort into it. There is a galaxy full of incredible knowledge waiting to be discovered, much of which is directly related to the spiritual path, and thus, extremely helpful, almost to the point of being essential.
If you've only been practicing for 3 weeks with no success, don't let that deter you. Few people can achieve it so quickly. If you really, truly want to succeed, approach practicing concentration/visualization/AP like an athletic sport. If you want to be good at it, you need to exercise daily with dedication and consistency, making it a very high priority. Everybody (probably) gets frustrated when they don't get quick results at first, as we're all so used to instant-gratification and such. Patience really is a virtue, as a lot of spiritual things need to grow gradually, in small steps, before they're noticeably tangible.
That being said, it's definitely possible that you'll finally succeed the next time that you practice, so be confident.

AP can provide a great amount of strength information & inspiration but the basis of gnosis is practiced in the physical.
Astral travel seems to be harder for some than for others, but give your all with the exercises on the course, and if you haven't projected by the end then keep experiementing. Later courses will assist in devoloping yourself such that AP will be more 'natural' as MattR mentioned.

The spiritual path is a very real path. A person walks on it in the physical dimension, but with the proper training, astral travel can assist a person that walks upon the path. This is a very vast topic and I can?t do it justice in a short post like this. If you continue with the courses here at Gnosticweb until the Journey to Enlightenment course, you will get a nine week explanation of what the path contains and what a person must do to start the path and to walk upon it.
Don?t feel bad about asking questions, that?s what the forums are for and it is the best way to learn :-)
