Hey, I am new to gnosticweb and have recently started the Astral Travel and Dreams course. I have always been interested in dream work and I have been using my dreams to access my unconscious on my path of personal dev.I am a psychotherapy student and I am currently studying Gestalt therapy and the work of fritz perls. Its yet another module of the diploma course in humanistic and integrative psychtherapy, thats the approach I am studying.Any way I am a bit confused at the moment as i have been doing the exercises required by the A.T.D course which include relaxation before sleeping! according to gestalt it is not relaxation if the student forces so, instead it is intended that while relaxing if we experience a block(trapped energy) allow the focus to rest with it and work through it....My confusion is this, do I focus on the block thus carrying it into the Astral, or do I simply leave it as it is without my focus?SORRY this is so long winded my concern is that maybe I should not be practisisng both at the same time....any ideas would be appreciated ???

Hi trixiemoroni,

First, I have not tried this Gestalt approach. However, what seems to be most necessary for astral projection is for your physical body to be without tension. So, it may not be necessary to worry about trapped energy, etc...to accomplish the goals for this course. I know that many people have been successful with the techniques given in the course just by ensuring that the actual muscles of the body are relaxed. I hope this helps some!

Good luck with your practices,

Gabrielle

Thanks Gabrielle,

I think you hit the nail on the head, muscle relaxtaion is of course the technique I need to apply before sleep. I think I am just so new to this I am mixing new material with old material. Any way enough from me and all my beginners low self belief. I think its just fear of not doing the exercises correctly and maybe not being able to project. Thats typical me though making sure I am doing it perfectly.......... tonight when I am relaxing I will focus my mind on stillness and muscle relaxation.

Hey Trixiemoroni,

That's not such a bad thing to try to do things perfectly...so long as you channel that energy in the right way. We don't get perfect after trying a practice a few times, but if we aim for perfection each time, and look over our practices constantly for improvement.....

Well, that's a very good way to get SUCCESS!!

Good luck,
Dara

p.s. I'm a perfectionist too =)

Yes, I agree with Dara...I am sure that will help you a lot in the long run.

I didn't spend nearly as much time/effort on each step of the process when I started. Then, I started to realize just how important each step really is to getting the results we want. I wasted a lot of time relearning things. I think it's definitely worth it to learn each step of the process thoroughly the first time around.

Good luck to you both with your astral practices!

Gabrielle

Would be interesting to hear how that approach works out for you trixiemoroni - sort of a before and after.

Good luck!
