In the self-discovery course there is references to classical music feeding the consciousness. What composers does this include besides Beethoven? Does music by Bach, Mozart, for example also feed the consciousness? Are there any modern music types that also feed the consciousness?? |

The masters especially recommend Mozart and Beethoven, but i found Bach and Haydn also to be beneficial for the consiousness. Besides these there are of course a lot more other pieces that are beneficial; you will learn to differentiate if you take up the spiritual work.
Kind regards,

Some of the classical composers that are recommended by Samael are Beethowen, Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin and Wagner. Those are composers that he recommends in his later books (the one that are recommended by this site). But im sure there are other great pieces from other composers that feeds conciousness too.
However, there is also music from this age that is very inspiring and could also give extra strenght for doing the work and that also feeds conciousness. Such as; Gary Remal Malkin - (album called) Graceful Passages A Companion for Living & Dying; Phil Coulter & Roma Downey - (album called) Healing Angel; Rob Sutherland - (album called) Angel's garden; Robert Haig Coxon - (album called) Prelude to Infinity; to name a few...
While listening to the music, it is important to observe the centres and see if any action is going on there while listening to that music, this way we could discover which music feeds the egos, and which feeds the conciousness.

Passive (when we are not aware) interaction with subconscious elements, egos, leads to their "feeding", as they consume our energy and grow in size. Then our subconscious states get more power.
From other side, active (when we are aware) interaction with conscious elements leads to reinforcing of our conscious state.
There are conscious elements in some forms of Art, for example in some music, like Kengo explained.
So then, from those interactions we can consume the conscious elements with our activated consciousness...
...and that's how we feed our consciousness!
It is explained in Self-Discovery course.
It can be really understood only on practical level, by experiencing it.
Good luck with your practices!

Steve Vai (http://www.dcsi.net/~bluesky/vai82.htm) plays music which some consider to be spiritual, like "For the Love of God", but I don't remember hearing any modern music which fed me spiritually.
Some people like Schubert's Ave Maria.
I have personally experienced only Beethoven feeding me spiritually but I do like the music of Mozart. Franz Welser-Most's performance of Mozart's Requiem is on par with a lot of Beethoven's music in my opinion.

Yeah the music has to be of a certain type. When we hear the music it touches us in certain way; particularly in the way intended by the composer, musician or singer. So when the music is agressive it will make you agressive in a certain way, if it is sad it wil make you sad. So in order for music to feed the conscousness it must come from consciousness. So composer who had certain level of conscoiusness were creating music that would feed it.
As for the guitar it is possible that it can actually feed the conscousness but like I said it would depend on the person who created it. As for techno music I think that none of it can actually feed the consciousness because of the purpose it is created for, such as party. I actually used to listen only to techno music before but now I have stopped just becaue of what kind of things come up when I listen to it. I advise you to take the courses that are given here. Particularlly Self-discovery as it explains what coinsciousness is and how you can activate it. It is then you can start seeing which things come from consciousness and which is not.

I can advise you listen only to Beethoven for a week, then you can feel the difference when you will put again techno music.
Sometimes egos can give us nice pleasant sensations for some time... untill they will change their sign...
... but Peace, felt in a heart is very different from it.
All the best!

From what I gather it all goes back to balance.
Has anyone experienced their different centers in this way? does classical allow you to use your emotional center instead of your intelectual?
I have found that some modern music effects me in such a way I will get depressed listening to it. Some music encourages me to feel a certain way and the consequences of feeling that way. I have found that when I listen to music that encourages bad thoughts about my relationship, i then identify with that music, and then my thoughts drift towards it and the relationship starts heading south. Rap and hip hop has lost a large amount of appeal to me since I have started noticing the effect music has on me.

Kleiber's famous perfomance of Beethoven's 7th Symphony, on low volume, left me in a mystical state. I felt like starting an astral practice straight after listening to the whole piece, and so I did. I'd encourage others to experiement. Some people like high volume but it doesn't work for me, at least not on my stereo anyway. I sat there in my room with my eyes closed, with a relaxed body and tried to concentrate.
