Is the only difference between Astral Projection and Lucid Dreaming the fact that in Astral Projection you are deliberately trying to get into the astral state and in Lucid Dreaming, you've already been dreaming for a while and then realize that your dreaming and that you can control it?

Sara Belle,

Lucid dreaming is a form of astral projection. If you have experienced the sensations of your astral body separating from your physical body, then you can be sure you have projected into the astral dimension. If you haven't experienced those sensations, then you are most likely lucid dreaming.
You can project into the astral dimension from a lucid dream.

I experience two totally different things when I AP and Lucid dream. When I AP I ALWAYS float or fly. I can go through things like windows or walls and I usually see people that I have not encountered in this life. People communicate with their minds. I don't see their lips move. I have even been able to understand foreign languages. When I lucid dream I can dream about anything; family members, elephants with fangs, etc. and I KNOW that I'm asleep and dreaming about it and can make it up as I go. I don't have a floating sensation. That's just my experience. I don't know about others' encounters.

I have similiar experiences also. I think the difference is that with lucid dreaming, you're waking up in a dream more submersed in the subconscious while astral projecting from the bed, the subconscious influence isn't as strong.
