Can anyone tell me if communion has any significance to gnostic students? I know the history from my christian background but from what I have learned my mind set during communion is more important than the act itself. Is there something I can take from a communion spiritually other than just simply tradition of the church.

Hi Unfound,

Personally, I will try to be aware there, work on my egos, try to capture the inner meaning of those rituals.

Time to time, things like that can be quite an experience.

Sometimes we can find in communion people interested about work we do, so this is a wonderful opportunity to help them experience what we did.

All the best!

Hi unfound,

Vadim made a good point in trying to be aware at such rituals, because with awareness we can glean a conscious understanding what we are going through.

Sadly, I think most things in religions have become a mere tradition and that we've lost touch with their true significance. But I'm sure if we are working upon ourselves, then we can rediscover the meaning, and perhaps find inspiration from the traditions.

Best Wishes!

Maybe in the future, when I attend another church service with communion, I will be able to share my discoveries. I was too nervous throughout my last time to experience anything beyond physical.

I know, it's not easy, Unfound.
I find that I have a lot of egos there wishing to tell everybody "the superior truth", however sometimes intuition is so strong, then I just have to speak.

It's not easy to distinguish between two.
It gets easier with spiritual experience.

Good luck!

yeah in awareness i think the ritual can have deep meaning to yourself.

i think though when Jesus did this at the Last Supper, it was symbolic, i personally don't think He was assigning a ritual for people to literally imitate. but... who can say really?... :)

James N. Chambers, Jr.

MORE SYMBOLIC

It apparently must be. "Do this in rememberance of me....." I think the core meaning must be ........ Think upon what I've taught you.....in so much paraphrasing. Meditation on the connection we have with each other. Just a possibility.

A quote from The Perfect Matrimony, “In our Gnostic Church, we have Baptism, Communion, bread and wine, Matrimony, Confession (friendly conversation between masters and disciples), and finally, Extreme Unction.”

What is the symbolic meaning of the communion? Does it have anything to do with alchemy.
thanks
