I heard that gnosticism was around way before christianity and that it has its roots in paganism and ancient mythology, then when Jesus came the gnostics just re-formed some beleifs around that.Is this the truth? Im confused. |

'Gnosis' is an ancient greek work meaning knowledge. This doesn't mean however that true teachings of the white lodge started in Greece.
From what i've read, Gnosis or True Esotericism has been around for an indefinite amount of time. In fact it seems to go way beyond time.
If you look into Greek, Norse, Celtic, Semitic, Aboriginal, Asian and other cultures, you will find that the same teachings that are given clearly today were given in symbols and parables throughout the ages. This could be due to the fact that people throughout history in 'Golden Ages' had a higher degree of awakened consciousness and could sort through the mysteries themselves.
From what i've heard, when Jesus came he was already a fully awakened Master of the White Lodge or an Absolute Man. He came here to show the esoteric path to humanity throughout the events of his life; the same teachings as were given throughout the ages by the Masters such as Buddha, Guru Nanak, Plato, Mazda, etc. etc.
Many of the events of Jesus' life correspond to Initiations and Tests in the higher dimensions, but this is all dealt with in much detail on the courses given here at Gnosticweb.
Kind Regards,
Dave.
