Hi Alzabella,
At what stage do you see this? Also, does it happen with a particular meditation practice (e.g., koans)?
Best,

Hi Alzabella,
It could be that you are seeing some dream images because you get so close to sleep that they become so strong. This one of the possibilities.

I think Stas is explaining the hypnogogic state our conscious goes through when the brain changes wavelengths for sleep.
You're close to that OBE stage, try to see if you can use this opportunity to get out.

Seeing images during meditation seems to be quite common. I have heard a few theories about it, but not sure which is correct. The dream images theory seems likely, but personally, I do not find it too fitting, as the images I see don't seem to be related to me or my subconscious. They feel completely seperate from myself, and far too "neat" to be dream images, to me. I have heard a theory that it could be input from an active third eye chakra, in which case the images would be external.
Where the images come from is a mystery, but what is for certain is that you should keep track of them as you would a dream. Sometimes they can have special meanings to us personally, or they could be clairvoyant images, in which case you would need to remember enough of them to verify some.

Thanks-
Im almost sure they are not dream images. At first I would only see them in deep meditation. Now I can pretty much close my eyes (like when I lay down for bed) In just minutes I can see a soft glow of light, then the movie starts. Sometimes its almost like im looking up from the ground, because the people are above me. Sometimes the view is sideways or upside down. I can make out trees and people. I am in no way asleep. And im not crazy. These images dont pertain to me. It just seems like im a spectator, just there watching.

Hi Alzabella,
That's interesting...thanks for brining it up here. I guess we're all crazy in this normal world...just kidding.
What can it be? Images of subconscious, and now, just learning more about how to observe them?
Extra-sensory perception, i.e. clairvoyance? Beginning to develop this capacity, "to see"?
Perhaps, it may be interesting to explore how a different spiritual practices may have an effect (or may not) on these images.
How do they look like during attempts to astral project? How do they look like after pronouncing a mantra to activate clairvoyance? Can you visualize other things instead of those images?
Best wishes,

Hi Vadim-
Thanks for the reply. They always look the same. I dont even get close to the point of astral projection. The images almost start immediatly. They are so fasinating that I just lay there and watch, usually untill I fall asleep. lol. I havnt used a mantra to activate clairvoyance, because I didnt know thats what it might be. No I cant visualize other things during this. I have tried to clear my mind while this is happening, but when I do that, the images just seem to get more clear. It almost seems like the white surrounds me. And the people get closer, easier for me to see. If you know what I mean. Can you tell me just what clairvoyance is? I know its some sort of ESP. But not sure what.
Thank you everyone for all your replies-

Based on what I have heard from others, Clairvoyance is a psychic faculty where you receive images or visions about events in the past, present or future.
