SO hard to dial a phone in the Dream State?

I cannot count how many times I try to use the phone & something always effects it, inability to hit the right buttons, wrong numbers etc.

I seems a common occurance for me just like trying to run in dreams.

Any thoughts?

lol, that's so funny you brought that up. I can't use a phone at all in the dream state....it's always a frustrating experience.

I just dreamt the other night that I got a phone call and I could not understand what the person was saying on the other end, so I was assuming what they were saying and answering according to that. lol

That's probably what I'm doing in life. I'm not understanding, I'm assuming things and I act according to those assumptions. Ouch.

I tell you, I just about brought myself out of the Dream cause it was so annoying.

In the end the issue involved resolved itself but man that is annoying.

I wonder if the symbolism does have to do with misunderstanding something, I just cannot think what it is.

It might have some symbolic meaning but that would be personal to you, so it's worthwhile to see what you can learn from it. Look at the context, so for example, who are you trying to call and what do you want to say to them? There may be a valuable teaching there. Your intuition can help you to perceive the significance of it.

Also, it sounds like an excellent opportunity to practice trying to wake up in a dream (this is taught in the D&OBE course), but if I interpreted your last post correctly, you've already used it for that purpose, so well done :-) It can help a lot to take advantage of the situations in our dreams while we're awake to ask ourselves if we're in the astral, so when you call someone physically, ask yourself if you might be dreaming. That way you can end up asking yourself the same question while in the astral, and make the most of the situation to help yourself to have a conscious astral experience instead.

This is something that has helped me on occassions to wake up in dreams too. Often in dreams things dont work the way they should. A simple task on a computer, phones etc. Reading things is always difficult too, ive often read something then thought 'ok I better remember this' only to read it again and it to say something completly different or something incomprehensible. I dont know why its like this like this, I guess its just the nature of the astral and perhaps why any important teachings are symbolic as it easier to see and remember a black cat for example rather than a body of text.

The thing that immediately occurs to me is communication. Could be with people, could be with the divine.

In my oppinion it has to do with lack of awareness and consciousnes during the occurance. Meaning the lack (or limited amount) of awareness brings forth the subconscious, and the subconscious "distorts" things. Of course if the numbers of the phone keeps changing, and you desperately feel you need to make a phone call. Then this can represent a problem in physical life, feeling inability to do something etc. But that would not change or negate the fact that this is all based on the handlings of subconscious, and that it would be the lack of awareness that triggers these distortions.

Most technology is defective in the Astral - could it be that it's because in the Astral, technology is unecessary?

On Earth, okay, you might need a cell phone. But then you carry your Earth habits into the astral where they are nothing but burdens instead of assistances.

For instance, I always find my stupid self driving a car or climbing laboriously up some hill, etc. and do I think of flying instead?

Again and again, I do not. This world and the skills we acquire for its ever-increasing "convenient" techno-crap seems to be training me to be an astral idiot.

scot,
Actually all technology is not defective in the astral. In fact, there is quite a few technologies in the astral, and even computers which spirits use.

However, need to separate the actual technologies which exist as part of spirit reality. With "so called" technologies which you create mentally as part of unconscious dreams, as well as the "reproductions" of physical equipment. When dreaming you are usually in somewhat lower levels, where there is not much of use and value, so cannot really compare objects there for instance with objects in spirit worlds and regions.

It might also be good to know, that just because it is possible to fly in the astral does not mean people who live there go around flying all the time. Just like people here do not run allt he time just because it is possible, or use the car to get to the neighbour.

Also, this is just some thoughts... but you might want to look into the meaning of those two dreams, especially one of them...
