Hello,

If someone has no previous experience with astral travel, has open mind and sincere interest to learn it, what is the best thing you can suggest?

If I remember myself at that time, (besides suggestion to take the course here!), would mention the importance to evaluate each practice, and the next time time attempt to improve it.
Otherwise, the same mistakes can be repeated over and over and later become a harmful pattern, repeated subconsciously.

?

Hi Vadim,

Yes, I think that's excellent advice to evaluate our practices and look for ways to improve. A fundamental skill if we wish to succeed at astral travel (or anything spiritual for that matter).

Another thing I'd suggest, although it's perhaps much easier to see it in hindsight, is that we need to practice very, very hard and combat laziness, disheartened feelings, and other excuses not to practice with all our might.

Astral projection requires a lot of work, but those efforts are truly worth it because in the end they provide us with a new perspective on life and the strength to keep fighting for our spiritual development when we're faced with inner darkness.

The hard work is worth it.

Thanks for starting the thread, Vadim.

All the best!

Mike

Great thread!

I think its also important to keep trying and not give up when it seems like we're not getting where we want to.

I have a question about that, I have not yet taken the dreams course, I will start it on sunday, but I have attempted Concious Astral Travel years ago and am working on trying to fall asleep on my back now as preparation.. a funny thing happens, it started years ago when I was just about to leave my body, my chest lifted like it does when they put those electrical shock things on you in the hospital and in my heart I felt like I was having a heart attack.. this time again when I get close to leaving I feel this tightness in my heart begin and the numb pain start and then I get worried I will have that heart attack experience again.. I know that we use the o mantra which effects the heart chakra which is supposed to be good for OBE's so I was wondering if there was any link to my attempts to project and my heart chakra.

Thanks Vadim

My advice is to be as sincere as and to be really with it when practicing , to learn as you go ,learn the importance of concentrating , relaxing ,sticking with it and prayer, are all valuable to help when first starting as well as any time on our journey. With experience you learn to deal with the sensations you are talking about Lumin Air, when you first start it is a very profound experience and it can be hard to relax but the more you do it the easier it gets and i am sure you will get there .

All the best David .

My advice would be 'give yourself time'. There are so many things in life that we don't know how to do when we get started, but we have to learn to do them, and yet somehow with astral practices I know I find I can expect too much at once. How many times did we fall over before we learned how to walk? Now we can run... How many times did we write our N's and R's backwards as children? Now we write them correctly every time. How many times did we mess up before we learned to shift smoothly? (Fun times in 1st gear!) That's why we have those pesky driving lessons...

I think we can easily get ourselves frustrated and disheartened by expecting too much at once, so I think it's important that we find a way to put that frustration aside while we work on things, because otherwise it can start to eat at us - and, significantly, wreak havoc on our practices and chances of success.

Lumin Air, what you experienced was most likely just a symptom of the split, and not a sign of something physically wrong. (I say 'most likely' because I, of course, cannot know for sure that you don't have a heart problem, but assuming there is nothing otherwise wrong with your heart, and considering the timing, it is extremely likely this is because of the astral practice and not some other cause.) Various heart practices are among the primary ones that are taught in the course here, so there is definitely a connection there. Sometimes when we're about to project it can feel like our heart is racing, going disturbingly fast, but the physical heart is fine and beating normally. In that case, it feels that way because the heart chakra is quite active, and you are really quite close to a split. It is not dangerous. It sounds like the tightness in your chest might be from some anxiety that you are going to have a heart attack, but try not to worry about it - what you are experiencing is normal, and not a sign of a physical heart problem. All this will be explained further in the course.

This thread Is really helpful,

I like the way you put it Liz it really puts things into perspective and makes me feel better about my pace and not so worried about the heart thing since I do not have any other heart conditions but yes did experience the racing heart which is what led to the heart attack feeling thing

I would suggest the concentration on the heart practice because it would give them a great experience and more vivid dreams, which can be very motivating for a person to continue forward.

Thanks a lot for your comments! They seem to be very helpful, and not only for a beginner...
