Hi, I am Mary and I am new to this forum. I found this site while researching information on emotional healing. Most of my life I have spent taking care of people but never myself. Recently, I had a situation where I had 2 negative people in my life. Even though things are better with them gone, I still have been dealing with feelings of pain and betrayal. I have been in counseling for about a month and a half. I am amazed at how far I have come already. However, I felt like something was missing. There are times it is difficult for me to deal with the negative feelings I have. When I came upon this website it was like I found the missing piece to my puzzle. I am looking forward to learning about meditation and self-discovery to aid me with emotional healing. Right now, I can't think of anyone else I know that deserves this more than I do. I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to realize that. But as the saying goes, better late than never. I would like to ask a question. Is it possible to take both the meditation and self-discovery classes at the same time or would it be better if I just focused on one? And if so, which one? I currently work full-time and have one daughter who lives at home. I hope that everyone has a great week and I am looking forward to meeting people. Mary

Hi Mary Welcome to the site , and the forum . From my view point you will be better off with the Self-discovery course first. That course gives you the tools to look inside for your answers and to know the causes behind those problems that you face. I would not take two courses at the same time, because each week you have exercises that you would want to practice, and to get them down and to be able to do them correctly, requires that you focus on one at a time. I hope this was of some help to you ..

Thank you, Tony. I appreciate your feedback and yes it did help. I will start with the self-discovery course and then move on later to the meditation course. It is nice meeting you.

Hi Mary,
Great to meet you, welcome!
It's sad to hear about negative feelings, even if in some way they may have brought you to this work.
Self-Discovery course helps to understand more about inner psychology from the stand-point of permanent internal change and to learn essential basics of it; while Meditation course is more about practicing the techniques to calm the mind and find internal peace and silence.
I agree that it's better just to take one course at a time.
Some material from the course may seem easy to understand on a certain level, but it may take time and effort to realize how the techniques work, and to make them work eventually.
Best wishes,

Hello Mary,
Welcome along to the site and we hope you find the information that your looking for.
Negative emotions really affect us in a detrimental way and it sounds like you've had some rough experiences with those types of emotions lately, understanding these types of emotions will take a bit of work but you can replace the negative emotions with higher states of being with effort.
Good luck with the self discovery course as it will help you to unearth the causes of these emotional states that is affecting you.
All the best
Steve

It is nice to meet you also, Vadim. I agree with what you said about the negative feelings. It is sad. The feelings are directed at myself for making myself vunerable and allowing myself to be used, when I knew better.
From what you described it sounds like I will like the self-discovery class. I am the type that needs to know the "why" about things in order to learn. I think often it is important to understand ourselves in order to become committed to change.
After that, I will enroll in the meditation class. I have a hectic job and I could certainly use some inner peace. I hope that you have an awesome day.

Hi Mary,
"it is important to understand ourselves in order to become committed to change."
Nicely said!
Hopefully the classes will help you soon, as they have helped me and many others to experience more and better the "higher states of being" mentioned by Steve.
From what I understand and see, as a person changes internally with the right tools, external events start to change too or are perceived differently, some bring true joy and child-like happiness because internally a person is able to receive it; and some bring pain and bitterness so a person can learn from it and become even stronger, wiser and better.
Peace,

It is nice to meet you, Steve. I actually understand a lot about my current emotions and how I got here. I just don't want to dwell on the negative feelings. It is destructive to me. It is much more constructive to expend my energy helping myself, growing spiritually, and making myself a better person.
Thank you for your encouragement.
Mary
