It much depend on where the deceased is located and his or her state. It is not uncommon that the ex-body inhabited loved one is more aware of what you are doing than you realize. In fact, it can even happen that the deceased is more aware of what you go through, and your life than you are yourself.

Assuming the person does not have a new life etc (which if recently deceased likely do not have) it is very much possible to meet up with them out of body.
