Hi Suave,
I think I would prefer to have a conscious projection rather than having a NDE to find out what pictures thay are going to put up on the shelf!
I wonder what the researchers would say if someone told them what the picture was but didn't have a near death experience but instead consciously projected, then went and told them about the picture and wasn't involved in the experiment but the researchers could prove that the person couldn't posibilly have any way of knowing what they put up there.

Ahoy Steve,
I think it does not matter whether this research relates to NDEs or astral projections, what I have found interesting is that someone attempts to gain scientific evidence of the existence of the non-physical. Hopefully there will be more researches following that one and maybe one day more people will start thinking seriously about spirituality.
I think the idea of yours if really good, but I guess there are very few people who can astral project at will and go wherever they want to while keeping their perception of the astral clear of the influences of the subconscious.
May the Force be with you.

Unfortunately, these studies, even if they do yield some positive results, are usually ignored by people who refuse to consider OBE's as real.

Hi Guys,
It's unfortunate that that is the case fish isn't it & I even wonder if those that discredit these provable phenomena (OBE's for example) have something to gain by doing so. I believe that their are a lot of control mechanisms going on in the world which discredit a lot of good things that would of helped people so they discredit spiritual things for their own selfish ends.
All the best

You are right Fish, many will refuse to accept any results that contradict commonly accepted beliefs; in fact our world is full of people whose skepticism and denial restrict them from learning. For example some still believe that the Earth is flat.
I think it is great that someone in the scientific world is brave enough to conduct such a research. Perhaps this research will trigger a few to look deeper into these matters and some will be able to astral project themselves consequently gaining life changing experience.
May the Force be with you.

The validity of remote viewing has already been proven. I think why they want to study the near death experience is that they want to see if a person with no brain activity can have consciousness outside the body. Conscious astral projection (in their terms) would still be a process of brain activity.

I think that even if scientists "prove" that there is something beyond the physical body, most people still won't be sufficiently interested in pursuing it further on an individual level.
Ultimately, the individual experiences the other side, and science has to observe something external in order to verify its existence. The scientists themselves should try to astral project and bring their results to the table, imagine the debate that would stir up in the scientific community!

Hello Astral Monk,
If we could only get a few scientists to try it!

Below is a link to Belzebuub’s article on this topic; in my opinion it is a very interesting read.

..."there are laws and other things happening over there and those laws and other life forms influence what the individual perceives in an out-of-body or a near-death experience"...
This is interesting. Not only in a cultural and archetypical context but in habitual routine and the quality of life lead.
I know of someone that has "died" 3 times from doing heroin and said there was no light, there's nothing. Other people who are more aware in life and did not dull their consciousness with drugs, who have had NDEs, report at least some kind of feedback from the experience.
Not one of us will ever "know" until our organic machines fail us. Until that moment, we should live our lives ready to die at any time and undistracted from our path we've chosen.
