Hello Michael,

The actual technique of getting rid of lust or any kind of ego is covered in the Gnostic Wisdom course. But first to get rid of one, you have to be able to observe it as it comes up inside of yourself through various thoughts, images, feelings and emotions. When it is seen manifesting through awareness and self-observation, then you can begin to understand how it works and eventually get rid of it. Since lust can be an overpowering ego it can take an overpowering will to get over it. It's important to see it in action during daily life and to see what kind of damages it causes to your life and spiritually. I'm not sure if you have completed any courses but in the Self-Discovery course you learn how to observe and understand egos or different inner states in the day which is the stepping stone to getting rid of them.

I hope this helped

Hello Michael,

Gerry gave you great advices.

Lust is very pleasurable, why to give it up?
Well, with spiritual experience and practices done well we can see that sacrificing it can enable much more and much better pleasure to come into our lives.
"Giving up inferior for the sake of superior"
Superior is bliss of activated consciousness, childlike care about others and true peace inside, inner freedom, understanding about how things work in life, understanding about psyche, etc, etc, etc.
Superior means freedom from negativity, stress, depression, all these things which are greatly enforced by lust affecting root energies.

When lust attacks, try to attack it too, for now with detachment and observation, staying separate from images and ideas, activating all 5 senses at once simultaneously right in the moment when that pleasurable sensation comes.
What can really help also is to avoid activities caused by lust, like going to specific places, watching lustful programs, etc.

Can also suggest Gnostic Wisdom course because it gives a powerful tool to destroy egos, the technique of elimination.

All the best!

One thing that's helped me combat lust is to see it for what it really is.

That involves using the conscious awareness to arrive at truth regarding it's nature.

Lust is the selfish, and is the only thing that produces pleasure rather than pain, suffering, or anger.

As what has been stated in the previous posts under this thread, which correspond to my own observations, we are animals that live for pleasure; We desire to be happy, so Lust becomes an addictive behavior we must break. It actually changes the chemical balance in the brain!

Jim B said something in another forum that I liked, it was regarding will we choose things for the flesh or to do things for the spirit?
Lust and pleasure, desire driven addictive behaviour, it is all for animals. Evolving past this and devloping real peace within gives us strength to strive for spiritual things instead which have greater rewards than temporary drug-like selfishness.

There are many tools that help fight lust given throughout the various courses. Basically, any one of them seriously applied will strengthen the consciousness and weaken the egos, but I find specifically that the elimination of the ego, retrospection, and mantras are very good for dealing with egos of lust (or, in the case of mantras, pushing them to the side).
