Hi everyone I was just wondering, has anyone astral projected by sitting up? I have been practicing for about two weeks now. I also astral practice by lying down. Thanks, |

Hi Sally
No I haven't myself but I have heard of others being able too. As long as you can fall asleep sitting up then you could possibly astral project too.

Hi Layla
Thanks for your comment. If your body falls asleep while sitting isn't it likely that your head might flop and it will wake you up Perhaps when you become used to sitting up trying to astral project it won't happen.

I'm guessing that it depends on how you are sitting up, for example if you have a head rest behind you, your head may fall back rather than forward. Also some people may be able to discipline the body well so that it can get used to sitting up, like you say.

I remember trying to discipline myself to lie on my back as I was always a side sleeper and it took a bit of discipline to not move or turn, but after a while I found lying on my back to be more comfortable and I would lie in that way without moving all night. : )

Hello,
Although it was a short experience, it guess it was interesting, so thought about sharing it here.
It happened last week. I was studying at the library, and then I started feeling a bit tired and just put my head on the table, over my crossed arms, while still sitting on the chair. I didn't noticed when, but I was in a dream that looked like something that I already experienced before, so I realized it was a dream. The dream dissolved and I felt again that I was sitting at the library, but I couldn't move a muscle. There was a huge noise and the library was shaking a lot, like if there was an earthquake or something. I thought it would be cool to go out, but my next class was in a few minutes, so I opened my mouth slowly to get out of the sleep paralysis. As I gradually woke up, I felt my body so relaxed, I could barely move.
So, as long as you are able to relax, it can happen. For a planned practice I wouldn't recommend you to practice sitting up, as it can be more difficult to relax the body. It is better to do it lying on your back. Anyway, I guess this happened because my physical body really needed sleep at that time.
All the best.

I sometimes sit when I am immensely tired, to help me not fall asleep. You can fall asleep in the sitting position, if you're relaxed enough, but still need concentration. I have fallen asleep in the sitting position before, due to lack of concentration, and I found that it didn't really make much difference. I didn't even remember the dreams I had

It's also possible in a recliner as you are half sitting / half lying down.

I use a recliner to practice astral projecting and to meditate in sometimes with the intent of projecting if i can, i tried meditating in the sitting position once and got to relaxed causing a really stiff neck which has made me wary of this position ever since .
Cheers David .

Hello Sally!
I think that no matter where you are or your position, as longer as you fall asleep and your Inner state is balance it's likely to astral project.I would like to share a good experience that I had a while ago...
I was sitting in a meditation room with a group of spiritual people, the energy in the room and among these people was very positive, also I felt very balance, didn't have many thoughts going on my head, so I wasn't worried about anything, emotionally I was very relaxed... I was determined to focus on my essence and take this opportunity to meditate and see how it's to become conscious for a moment, getting detached from everything. I was very peaceful and fell asleep. I noticed that when I was falling asleep a more ethereal body was raising from my physical body, so I could feel how I was floating above my physical body and I could see the room where we were. But because I was too enthusiastic and didn't know what to do next, this excitement make me to come back to my physical and wake up. So it's one of those things that I need to learn that is to use this opportunities for something productive and have enough willpower to travel in the astral consciously and get some teachings for my spiritual progress. Anyway it's all about practice... eliminating egos, using your energy wisely and good deeds so we can receive divine help to succeed in the spiriutal work.
Inner Peace

Hi Maria
Thank you for sharing that. That was great. Well done! I am practicing sitting every day so hopefully I will get an experience like you but if not there is always lying down.
