Help! I am a teenager trying to astral project! I can get to the vibration stage easily, without even trying, but then I can't get beyond that. Will someone help me with it? Once in the vibration stage, I concentrate on spreading vibrations throughout my body, and on my determination to get out of my body, and lately I have been felt like I am twisting, turning, or falling, but then the vibrations stop and I think I am finally out of my body, so I open my eyes, and find that I am just awake in my bed. Please tell me what I am doing wrong! Thanks. Sorry for the long post.

Hi Mayumi,

Welcome to the site!

That's really good that you are feeling vibrations; it's a sure sign that your body is falling asleep and your astral body is starting to split.

There are a few things you can do to help yourself to project. First, before you start, make sure to relax all the muscles in your body--go through them one by one and take your time, because if we hold any tension in our physical body this can make it difficult to split.

Once you are completely relaxed, then you need to concentrate your mind on one single thing without any interruptions--this concentration is what allows us to fall asleep consciously and become aware of projecting.

If you aren't familiar with any of the astral projection techniques, a good one to start with is concentrating on your heart. You can concentrate on the beats if you like, one at a time, making sure that you don't let any thoughts about vibrations or other feelings distract you. It's very important to be single minded in your concentration no matter what happens, because if we get distracted by thoughts about vibrations or wanting to get out, it will interrupt our concentration and then the practice won't work.

The Dreams & OBEs course goes into all this much better--and it's free, so you may want to sign up for the next round starting Oct. 26. http://www.gnosticweb.com/dreams-and-obes-course

Good luck, keep practicing, and tell us how you are doing!

Hi Mayumi! Sounds like you're doing great. The vibrations
usually come when your astral body is loosening up to exit from the physical. It takes alot of practice and three key components.

Relaxation, Concentration and Sleep.

If you haven't already I'd sign up for the Dreams and Out of Body Experiences course. All the fundementals are given in this course and the course instructors are really helpful with answering all your questions.
Good Luck with your efforts!

Practice meditation during the day,

meditation is the key element that brings all things into focus

focus also on your breathing.

Mayumi,

It sounds like you may be trying too hard.

If your worried about getting past a stage it is affecting your concentration.

Work on Breathing exercises and Mind Calming.

Too much focus can have the same effect as not enough...

BUT...Keep it up, it is SO for your benefit!  :-)

Hi Mayumi, you're almost there!

My first consciouly-willed experience was amazing and I also had it while I was a teenager, I know how hard it is!

I definately agree that meditation is great in helping to develope the ability to consciously split the physical and astral vehicles.

Everything everyone else has suggested is good, I might also add that try not to pay attention to the vibrations themselves, just let them happen and then in my case, every here and there you'll make it out all the way - then get away from your physical body and try not to even think about it.

I suggested o someone else based on what I've been through, that the Course in Meditation is good to take here first, then the Dreams/OBEs Course if your case is similar.

Hi Mayumi,

These are the three things that usually work for me:

1. focus on a spinning white orb through your third eye

2. listen to your heart beat

3. i have ringing in my ears (tinnitus), so i basically just listen to it

But the best time for me to project is when i wake up for a very brief period (like a few minutes to get a glass of water or go to the bathroom) in the middle of the night (usually towards the early part of the morning, like at dawn or even at 7 or 8, an hour or so before i really have to wake up) and go back to bed. At this time, i induce the projection, and it works for me about 90% of the time. It's easiest at this time because i'm already feeling groggy and half-asleep anyway.

Hi All,

Thanks for asking this question Mayumi. And thanks everyone for all the great tips. The vibrations are a big distraction for me. They feel very intense. In general I am very sensitive to energy. I haven't managed to get past them yet but going to follow all the suggestions above.

Thanks so much,
Gina

Just try to relax and let it happen. I used to be that way too!!! lol

The sleep paralysis I would sometimes get right before the vibrations would freak the hell out of me, too, but I learned to just give in. That's actually when I discovered I could astral project!

Thanks Dalia! I think you are right on with that. Just need to learn to really let go.

Thanks for the suggestion - I will practice with that tonight.

Strength and Blessings,
Gina

It's also not out of the question that when you find yourself back in your body that you are actually in the astral plane. One misconception that I had in projecting is that the astral plane would be a lot different.
One afternoon, I was carrying out concentration on the heart and was getting frustrated with the practice. I gave up a bit, but then decided to try again. I concentrated, and felt a certain heat, but nothing happened. I decided to just go to sleep. Later, I woke up, and realized I was oriented the opposite way to the way I had been, I had been out of my body and not realized it! What a wasted opportunity!
So if you come to a place where you don't feel vibrations, get up, walk around, jump and see if you float, you could be in the astral. Are you so sure you're not there now?
