Hello everyone. I recently became aware of astral projection while
searching info around lucid dreams, of which I've had many but can't
seem to induce. (I probably didn't try hard enough) I found this site a
few days ago and decided I'd make an account. The courses look very
interesting and hope to learn a lot from them.

A little about
myself, I'm 25 and I live in Canada. I was raised Jewish, but around 14
I decided I wasn't interested enough to continue participating in the
religion. My mother soon followed and has for quite a while been
practicing Buddhism. She is also a reiki master & teacher. I went
through some kinda of initiation many years ago and I recieced my reiki
1st degree. I have been able to heal small wounds much quicker than
without the reiki. I've been very confused about life for a very long time. I'm now starting to believe more towards the idea that everything is energy. I have a lot of problems that I think will get in the way of my ability to astral project and hopefully I will learn some ways to over come them. I also have taken a group course which was called mindfull awareness. However I have not been practicing much and feel I should start again.

I'm not 100% sure what gnosis/gnostics
is and hopefully someone can explain it to me. Is this based around
christian religion? I noticed that there is a section on the main page
about Gnostic Christianity? Nothing about Gnostic Judaism lol j/k.

Anways, that about sums everything up.
Thanks. Cya later.

Hi Astraldreamer,

Welcome!

Nice to see you here. I live in Montreal now, there is Gnostic center here and also there is Gnostic center and group in Toronto and Vancouver.

It's great to hear that you're interested about the courses, courses from Gnosticweb had helped many in a different ways: be it a real out-of-body experience, understanding and solving of personal psychological problems, extrasensory perception of so-called paranormal pheomena beyond "what eyes can see", or maybe just feeling more oftenly and naturally warmth, care and compassion towards others, which becomes rare in this world.

The word "Gnosis" has an origin in Greek language, it means knowledge from direct experience. To make rough distinction, Gnosticism is esoteric Christianity, as well as Kabala is esoteric Judaism and Sufism is esoteric Islam, etc.
From my understanding, those are all different schools with essentially the same and yet different methods, ideally leading to the same goal -awakening and unity with Divine. Most of the schools had degradated though and don't really teach what they say they teach.
It's more difficult to find a real spiritual school, than to find an honest mechanic around the area where I live (joke)

Maybe you can watch these movies to get more understanding about what is it all about.

Belzebuub talks about Gnosis

All the best wishes,

Thank you Vadim. I live about 30-40 min away from the Toronto Gnostic Center. I will certainly have to try and make it down there some time. I think I will need the help of some of the online courses before I can get myself there. As fear gets in the way of almost every thing I do in life. I'm hoping a course here will help me with this. Can you suggest a course which you think may be suitable? I am really interested in astral projection but I don't think I am ready for it. Reading experiences about the negative sides of it have scared me so much that I can't sleep without the lights on. :( But It's just so interesting I must learn more about it.

Thank you for the link to those videos, they were very informative. I don't really know which religion to believe in. It's all so confusing to me. I would like to get some sort of insight while projecting. I Don't know how possible that is to accomplish however.

Hi Astraldreamer,

If you are hoping for a course that can help you with fear, then the Self Discovery and Peace course sounds like it would be great for you. It deals with what negative emotions like fear are, and teaches you how to break free of their stronghold and to begin to live your life differently, to overcome such states and feel peace. It is a really good course.

I can totally relate to your comments about religion and not knowing what to believe. That is why the courses here appeal to me so much, because emphasis is placed on practice and direct experience, rather than 'believing' in the teachings. It is through direct experience that true knowledge and wisdom can be obtained, where as an intellectual belief in something is empty and confusing.

You can get insight into many things and even direct spiritual teachings with astral travel, and the techniques for how to project are covered in detail in the 'Dreams and OOBE course'. However the astral is still touched on in the 'Self Discovery' course, and the techniques you learn in that course not only help deal with things like fear, but also help with projecting. So it sounds like the SD course would be a great one for you to begin with.

As the courses began this week, once you sign up send an email to either helpdesk@gnosticweb.com or course@gnosticweb.com and they can ensure you are included this round. Each week there is a practice given for you to investigate, so the earlier you get onto it then the deeper you will be able to explore this weeks practice.

I hope this helps :)

Strength to everyone!

Amy

Hey Astral Dreamer! Welcome to Gnostic Web. I practice here in the Montreal Center along with Vadim. I'd recommend the Self-Discovery Course too. It really gives you the fundamental techniques to start to change and an overview of Gnostic Psychology.
If I had to say what Gnosis is "about". It would have to be
practicing practical exercises that can give us incredible knowledge about ourselves and the universe. Its not about getting intellectual knowledge, by reading or going to courses. But its about experiencing things first hand, in order to know truth.

Man, Know thyself. And Ye shall know the Universe and the Gods.

Nice to meet you!

Thank you Amy & Andew. I have signed up for the self discovery course and sent out an email to let them know.  From what you have described this does sound like the perfect course to start with. Nice to see some active Canadian members aswell. I'm excited :)

Hi astraldreamer,

You're only about a 20 hour drive from Halifax, so give me a visit sometime on the East side of little old Canada, too.

Although it's not likely you appreciate it so much at the moment, that feeling of uncertainty is probably quite good for you. It gets you to open up your mind and look around and be amazed.

And I think a sense of wonder is like the right fuel to propel your truth-detecting quest.

What you face, and we all face, is the wild ocean of pure experience in the inner worlds.

To find some fellow voyagers is greatly appreciated by me, and one more is that much better. Welcome to Gnosticweb.

Hi Astraldreamer,

That's nice that you live quite close to the center, me too, usually I have to drive for 30-40 minutes depending from the traffic.

Maybe you can take on-line course, but at least feel free to visit them sometimes in Toronto to clarify a difficult questions and to practice together. Practices in the center can create much more force than being by yourself. There are many people around the world who wish so much to be close to the center but can't make it for a different reasons.
Another amazing option is to go to the park together and to practice awareness.
If you'll feel yourself interested, here you can check them out for the list of activities they offer.

Like Amy and Andrew have suggested, I can also recommend the course in Self Discovery and Peace.
That's a great one to start with.

I know what you mean about being scared...but later with more experience and practices, fear can get replaced with curiousity and interest, and after a certain stage can even die out for the sake of courage.
There is so much to explore out there, let's not let any shadows to cover the light.

Best wishes,

Please feel free to let us know how things will go.

Hi Vadim,

I will be trying to make it down sometime as it seems it will be very helpful. I have told my girl friend about the course I signed up for and she has strung an interest now aswell. We may go together for the dreams & astral course at the center. I like the idea of awareness walk I will suggest to do this with her.

Thank you Scot for that warm welcome. I have never driven 20 hours away from my house so that would be quite a big leap. Maybe meeting in the astral would be easier lol.

I'm very excited to learn what the world is all about.

Hi Astraldreamer,

I saw that you're from Canada earlier in this thread, but I didn't realize you're so close to Toronto! I'm at the Toronto centre--if you get the chance you should definitely come check it out--like other people said it's really helpful to meet with others doing' the practices and everything.

So maybe I'll see you there...

:) Dara

Thanks Dara,

I will certainly make it of my goals to attend a few sessions if not a whole course :) It sounds like the perfect environment. Feels very warm and inviting. I'm not part of any other social groups so it would probably be good for me.
