Who are we?

Richard Dawkins has a very powerful claim that: "We are survival machines - robot vehicles blindly programmed to preserve the selfish molecules known as genes."

But is it all...is it all, who we are?

Is it possible to reduce all possible manifestations of love, sacrifice, help, heroism, kindness, etc. to complexity of a natural program working under the scenes to ensure the survival of the species?

Maybe, just to leave it aside and to look this way: who we are depends from what we do and what we can do. We know what we have done in our past. Is it all we are capable of? What is our true potential?

"The clay model -the illusion of life"

I wonder whether it is possible, and if it is, then...how does it feel to transform a robot into a being capable to truly love and to care about others, "love your neighbour as yourself".

Hello Vadim, Interesting

Hello Vadim,

Interesting thoughts! I often wonder about the scientific reductionist perspective on humanity, particularly Richard Dawkins who seems completely obscured from his own humanity by the severity of his scientific belief and rigour.
Master Belzebuub's description in that video 'the clay model' is at once alarming and inspiring as it offers hope as well as a reality check.
Lovely picture by the way.
Hope you are well.
Scott
