Hello Brandon,
It is perfectly safe to practice astral projection. What you could've seen could be a projection of the subconscious, perhaps even of that original fear you had in relation to astral projection, because what we think appears very real over there. It is also possible that it was a negative entity, but, at the stage you're at, it is just important to remember not to get scared by them, as that ends the experience.
The weakness you experienced is normal. When we astral project, the physical body has to fall asleep. As a part of that, it becomes numb and paralyzed. This stops it from repeating the movements of the astral body. In people who sleepwalk this "protection" doesn't work properly, so their physical body moves as they dream. The ringing sound you mention is also a common sensation accompanying astral projection.
The process of astral projection can be very intense, but as you practice, you'll see for yourself there is nothing to be scared about, it's just something you have to get through several times to get used to it.
What you can expect is another dimension, that's yet very similar to the physical. It is not scary by itself. However, the fear of the unknown can be very strong when we're starting. To overcome it, it's necessary to keep practising, and visiting the astral. The more times you do it, the smaller will that fear be, until it is no longer an obstacle.
Take care,
Matija

Thanks for the reply. i am definitely going to try and remain calm and continue onward if this accures agian.. i also have been reading the forums and noticed i can also become very close to doing with with out havent to first sleep. i can lay down and concentrate and become near paralyzed and then my heart starts to beat really hard. when i get to this point i dont go further because i fear my heart will explode. i must conquer my fears.

Hi Brandon,
The heart beating sensation is also normal. If it makes you feel better, keep in mind that it isn't the physical heart that beats like that. What you're experiencing at those moments is activity of an energy center/chakra, that's located in the heart area and is connected with astral projection.
The physical body does need sleep for astral projection to occur. However, when we're concentrated and we start to seperate from the physical body, we won't feel it's falling asleep as we usually do, because we're conscious of the whole process.
All the best,
Matija

Hi Brandon,
It's also a good idea to join the AP course where you can get a lot more information and guidance. In the mean time I can recommend whatching videos on this site (http://www.gnosticweb.com/obe-videos) and Master Belzebuub's site (http://www.belzebuub.com/moviesoutofbodyexperiences) and reading the articles on this topic. Hearing about AP from other students realy provides one with more confidence and understanding leading to less fear.
Keep up the efforts!
