During Gnostic Wisdom course there are some explanations.

From what I understand and can see, to put it very simple -we are here to awaken. Animals don't have this possiblity but we, humans, do.
Also we have a freedom of choice as well as have to pay consequences for every single action we choose to do, or choose not to do, or if we choose not to choose...
But it's all about personal investigations, not something to believe in but rather to explore by ourselves...

Michael, looking for an answer to this question will quickly take you to the fundamental roots of our being, and our purpose (considerable overlap, right guys?) in many ways... i think that if you actually look for an answer on your own, youll end up a saint hahaha

meditate on existence! The world will dissolve into nothingness, what are the essential functions of our bodies? of our minds? Whence comes the mind? Whence comes the sun?

All of us here at this site, and at many others, mind you, are asking this question, it has spurred self knowledge, it is a blessed question to ask...

I guess you could say that life is about figuring out the answer to that very question.

Hello Michael,

I think life is about understanding because if we understand we have knowledge about something and not just a normal understanding but a deep understanding which has a true meaning that flows deep from within.

If only we could understand and question because questioning is the beginning of understanding I think! and hey what about wondering & pondering especially when it's on subjects of a spiritual nature that is really powerful in a way because it opens us up to new and possibly better things spiritually.

so I think life is about understanding what we are and therefore we would have true knowledge.

For me, the purpose of life is to look for answers to those questions, and I'm sure those are questions which many people around the world have asked.
