Australian Retreat 2009 - Information

When and where

Arrival: Thursday the 1st of January, 2009. Departure: Tuesday the 6th of January 2009.

The location is Alpine Ash Mountain Retreat and Conference Centre, 235 Spraggs Road, Toolangi, VIC, 3777. A chartered bus will pick everyone up from a meeting site at Melbourne airport and provide transport to the retreat location. It will drop everyone back at the airport once the retreat is over. The bus trip is included in the cost of the retreat; however this does not include airfares or other travel costs to get to Melbourne airport. Further details will be provided upon booking.

Cost

The retreat costs AUD $400, which includes transport to and from Melbourne airport to the retreat location, five nights accommodation and all meals. For more information on payment, please go to the bookings page.

Activities

Coming together to practice with others can generate a spiritual momentum that can be very uplifting. Our qualified teachers will guide a range of practices and activities, such as mantras, meditation, astral projection, fire-side discussions and yoga to name a few. During the day there will awareness walks through the forest of towering Alpine Ash trees where you can learn to observe the world around you and within you, while immersed in a pristine natural environment. There will also be ample free time to catch up and reconnect with others or to spend in quiet reflection.

Food

All meals are included in the retreat cost. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served in a large dining hall buffet style, and vegetarian options will be available. Please inform us if you have any special dietary requirements when you book.

Accommodation

We will be staying in chalets that can accommodate up to 10 people, with men and women in separate chalets.

Eligibility

This retreat offers the chance for people to come together to practice, learn and catch up with others, and go further into some of the topics and practices covered in our courses. To be eligible you must:

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Have completed the ‘Self-Discovery’ course before the retreat commences.

  • Be enrolled in an online course or attending a gnostic centre in the course round prior to the retreat.

Retreat rules

We do not permit smoking, alcohol or drugs (unless prescription medicine) on our retreats.

Cameras or sound recording devices of any kind, are not allowed onto the retreat grounds, in the interest of privacy and peacefulness of everyone attending. An authorized photographer will take pictures, and those who attend will be able to acquire pictures after the retreat.

What to bring

The retreat will take place in the Australian summer, but in the mountains the weather can be varied, so you will need to bring clothing to accommodate for warm days, for colder weather at night, and be prepared for the chance of some rain. Here are some things we suggest to pack:

  • Light long sleeved protective clothing (for walking through the forest)

  • Comfortable T shirts and shorts, for doing practices on warmer days

  • Warm full length clothing (for the cooler evenings)

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Hat and sunscreen

  • Insect repellent

  • Bedding sheets and pillow slip (and an extra blanket for those who feel the cold)

  • Torch

  • Toiletries
