From what I understand the chatroom will be back at some point - don't know how soon, though.

But I've also heard it may have improvements (i.e. be more like the new video chats for the courses), which would be very, very cool.

Yes I heard about new video chats for the courses, but I was more curious if the old chat format will be back, where people from all courses and those who have already finished courses could participate.

I suggest an optional notification sound for the chat, for whenever a message is sent. As it is, one must check the window randomly.

I believe that in the new Chatrooms, sound can only be enabled if there is an official Forum Moderator who enables it, and it isn't feasible at the moment to have such moderators available 24/7, so that's why sound isn't enabled... Great idea though  :-)

There is also a bug in the chat where people who have already quit remain logged into the chat for a while. I think one of them has been logged in for almost a day by now. It prevents them from entering the chat while their ghost remains logged in.
