I have been looking at the gnosticweb symbol recently and was wondering what is it all about and what do others interpret it as. For me the sun probably represents christ and ties some of the relationships others, like Jordan Maxwell have made between christianity and pagan religions. There is also the 7 dots which is obviously a very important divine number as it pops up almost everywhere. The circle I think represents the eternal or the infinite nature of the spirit. The part I have trouble understanding is the crown. What is the need for a crown in the symbol does it represent a superior knowledge? Does anyone here know who made the symbol in the first place? For me it would be nice to find out, some of you may not be interested in these things but I think that its cool to understand what these things mean.

I've never really noticed it.

I see an obscure alchemical meaning hidden in there...
About the crown though, usually it represents achievement, or Keter - the top sphere. The crown of the entire Sephirot. The top of the 22 paths.
..."does it represent a superior knowledge?"...
- It's about knowing what to do with any knowledge.
I could be that it is just a graphic and doesn't mean anything; However, that is most likely to not be the case.
You are right that it is somewhat important to understand these things, at least to a small intellectual degree in order to understand a comprehensive occult science, but alot of people become wrapped up in that and neglect practice.

The crown makes some more sense now in relation to the keter. I found this quote on the keter from the Bahir (book of brightness).
"The first Sephirah is called the Crown, since a crown is worn above
the head. The Crown therefore refers to things that are above the
mind's abilities of comprehension."
Which I think is quite appropriate. Thanks for pointing that out apakhana.
I would agree there is a difference between book smarts and knowledge through practice and it is definately important to strike a balance.
I have found that many churches reference the sun in their symbology and it plays upon the notion of was jesus a real person. Personally I think it is possible that he was just as he was described in the gospels and that later on the sun symbolism was thrown in to match some of the other relgions of the day. Of course I cannot know this for sure.
Do you guys have any opinions on this?

Im not sure about the much more of the total understanding of the gnostic movement symbol, other than what was described here already, but I do know it was quite purposefully composed, and in everything from form to colour carries meaning. Its also gone through some changes recently. It used to have only three stars, and it said the gnostic movement instead of gnosticweb.
Peace yo.

Symbolism of a crown...hmmm...
Yes, like Apakhana said, perhaps it may be related to achievement, as well as to consequences of it, gained powers and responsibility.
Yes, crown is weared on the head so it may mean also victory over mind, permanent control over 5 senses, etc., all relating in its turn to elimination of egos and alchemical transformation.

A crown in the middle of the Sun.
I cannot improve on the meaning derived in above posts for Crown.
Sun is representation of Solar Body. It is only when we reach the biblical heaven as Christ is the Solar Being seated on the Throne of Heaven and coroneted. Now belonging to the heaven and equal amongst its peers or one in Christ. Thus as said, Crown symbolizes level of completion of trial or level (the trial of victory over the mind, over the nature of mater - the devil - the trainer).
Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

Thanks for that you put a new spin on the sun that I had never considered before. But then you opened a another can of worms that I have been considering lately.. The devil or satan. Who or what is the devil what is his mission statement and how does he relate to lucifer. Why has lucifer been knocked down to devil status, as he is the bringer of light or the morning star. What is so bad about him? Too many questions here perhaps this thread has been started somewhere else.

Belzebuub explains about Lucifer on his website:
"A few days later in another afternoon, I had another obe, this time I was feeling down about an inner state that I was trying to understand and overcome but couldn't, I lay down feeling a sense of defeat, even desperation, almost as soon as my head hit the pillow I was lifted up into the air accompanied by the obe sensations, this time I got up, sat on the edge of the bed and looked in the mirror. The astral plane had its luminosity and I looked at myself in the mirror, the reflection that came back was me but with changes due to the inner state I was working on, it showed in symbolism how that state affected me, but it showed it in a profound way, a way that I could never have grasped here.
As I turned around I saw a figure on my bed, he had two horns on his head, just as I’d imagined the Devil to have, but he looked serene and good, I decided to attack him, but as I did he taught me more about that inner state. I merged back into my body totally bemused, how could that Devil figure be good? Later I learned that was Lucifer, something completely different to a demon, it was the light bringer, a part of the being that is our psychological trainer, the particular difficulties I had been facing in life were part of his training and my learning."

So from what I gather, the Lucifer figure is something quite different from a demon - Lucifer is part of our own Being that can help us learn whereas a demon is someone who has awakened in darkness. (Theory!)
Hope this clarifies things somewhat...

Belzebuub also writes that when in the astral he came across the Gnostic Flag, which was in tatters because of the mess the organization was in. Does anyone know what the Gnostic flag looks like?
