Hi you all,

I am new here and still a bit resistant about speaking and probably also to find the right words to express what I mean (also not a native English speaker), but just in general, I do feel lost. I've always been very interested in the spiritual, Karma, the mind, the soul, all those things that are so complex and so essential to life and the possible understanding of it. Treat every living being like you's like to be treated yourself, what goes around comes around ... you know what I mean, but yet it seems like bad things keep on coming and only bad things. Like there is no balance. Don't get me wrong, I am not one who demands anything or feels like "pouting" because I don't get what I wish for. It's not that at all. It's more like even though I try and stay positive and deal with everything bad that happens (like health issues and continuesly losing loved ones and dear things etc.) and I am not mad at the world or anyone, but trying to stay patient and really do my best, but yet whenever I think: Okay, now that was the worst, now something good will come along (that meaning things might just stay as they are and not go more down, that's all I am asking for, really), next thing I know there is another bad thing happening. It feels to me like I don't know, someone making fun of me and all my efforts to deal and stay positive. And I just don't get why.

And I once read if one was a bad person in a previous life it might mean you have to endure pain and bad times in your next life and I can't stop wondering if that's why and what I back then might have done and if so ... well, what can I do to make up for it, you know?

What do you think? What can I do?
I appreaciate any thoughts and ideas.

Thank you very much.

Neliah

Hey Neliah,
You are right, karma is to do with our actions of this life and past ones. Its the way we learn from what we do. Its a complicated topic.

You have come to the right spot, there are courses here to teach you about self discovery and understanding who we are and how things like karma work. To oppose this we have to create dharma, that is to help others spiritually or materially, whatever may be. Generally speaking good things don't come along unless we earn them.

I felt really lost as well for a long time, until i found the courses here which gave me the tools to find stability within emotions, and the psyche. Its tough work but its rewarding.
Hope that helped a bit :-)

Hello ifitistrue, well, I have to admit, I did try meditating at times (like once a day for several weeks), but never yet consistently. Things kept getting in the way. I know that is not an excuse though. But when I did meditate I did like it. It felt right. It felt calm, it felt connected and as if it was doing something good for me. I always liked the quiet and the calm, can't handle stress and hecticess very well. Not sure if that answers your question though ... ;)

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your time and answer. I know karma is a complicated topic. I have signed up for the self-discovery course, hope that was the right one to start with. I've been reading about karma through out the years and even before I ever knew about the term somehow knew about it's meaning, you know what I mean? The "you need to give first before you can get something back", because it just always felt naturally and logical to me. Yet what I don't understand is how much is enough? At what point can you feel good with yourself with what you gave and hope for something good in return? Again, don't get me wrong,  I am not wishing for anything here, I just want the bad things that keep on coming (out of the blue leaving me pretty helpless) to stop coming and stop feeling like I'm being punished for something I have no recollection of having done. I want balance and peace of mind, basically, you know?

Again, thanks for answering,

Have a good day,

Neliah

Hi Neliah,

I can relate to what youre saying here. For me I a big (the biggest?) part of being balanced and having peace of mind is down to my thoughts and internal states. The Self Discovery course helped me to start observing these thoughts and emotions and how and why they arise. When I learnt how to eliminate these unwanted states it has helped me deal with 'bad things' better in a more serene way. Before, the idea of Karma really annoyed me but I think its a good to not dwell on it but to do what we can in this life with what we've been given and what we can do.

Regards
J

Hello Neliah,

First of all a warm welcome to Gnosticweb and great to have you one the forums.

Life is about learning. Bad things can happen in response to karma but also to teach us or show us certain things. Generally we are so caught up in life we fail to see this learning and the opportunities it provides. That might sound harsh but there is a higher purpose to things that is mostly unseen but is present and acts for our benefit.

By investigating the spiritual content given on the courses here you can start to see this. The more effort you put in to making sense of it all, the more you will understand, and the more you will be increasingly amazed.

I originally came to this site as my life was full of incredible pain and suffering and I wanted to make sense of it all. Looking back many years later I am extremely thankful that those bad things happened as I would probably never have made it here and been able to discover the immense value that true spiritually innately holds.

I am not sure of where you have come, or where you are going, or if my experience applies to you at all. All I can say is that answers are available here if you look, and I wish you well on finding what you seek.

Adam.

Hello Neliah,

You've picked a good course to start with in regards to trying to do something about the Karma that is happening in your situation and thats because Karma is a result of the the subconscious egos that are with in us. They (the subconscious elements) cause us to make mistakes which then in turn has the resulting karma being applied to that action.

In the Self discovery course you'll learn about the sub conscious egos that are within and then once you see those inner aspects you can then learn to remove those egos from yourself. Now heres the interesting thing, if you can remove egos from within, you will remove the Karma that was associated with that ego! so for example if a person had a karma that involved being very ill and that illness occurred later on in their life, if they removed the ego that caused that particular karma earlier in their life the Karma of being ill later in their life would be not have to be paid.

Their are different ways to pay Karma we can pay it in life by going through the karma applied to us which can be in the from of illness, sufferings of different kinds, things that looked like going our way failing etc etc, or we can pay karma by understanding the reasons why we have the karma and removing the cause of it which is the under lying egos we have.

Good luck and best wishes for your up coming course & welcome aboard!

Steve

Hi Steve,

thank you as well for your interesting words and your help. Can I ask one more question especcially since you mentioned illnesses? How does it work when you've been ill ever since you were a kid? I mean, you have a disease that can't ever be cured because there simply is no cure and as a matter of fact it can only get worse with time. How could a kid have prevented getting ill in the first place or why would it get ill without beforehand even having a chance to actually do good or bad things to cause this kind of karma? You know what I mean? That is something that just doesn't fit into my head, I am afraid. The search for the reason, the sense behind all that, you know? I think that is the reason why I as soon as I started learning about karma in general (years ago) got the idea in my silly head, that I had done something very bad in a previous life to be "punished" like this in this life. And thinking that is really neither good nor helpful. But it's always in the back of my mind. Is that something I can start to deal with and overcome maybe, once I start the course here?

Thanks again and have a good weekend, all of you nice folks here :)
