I was wondering what your opinion is of orbs which show up in digital photos. I was very sceptical when I first heard of them, but they are showing up more often and in bigger numbers in my photos recently, and from the way they behave I'm starting to think they're not dust or water particles after all. Some people believe they are spiritual beings, who go to collect prana from nature, or like to spend time around music and laughter, or around spiritual people. I've found that they are showing up in huge numbers when I take pictures at music festivals and often in nature. I'm going to put some in my gallery soon. When I can astrally project it's one of my goals to 'ask' what they are, but I haven't got to that stage yet so I was wondering if anyone can shed any light for me? Thank you :-) ;-) |

Hi Tuesdays,
Most likely what you are seeing has a more mundane explanation.
Aberrations are caused by failures in the mirrors or refracting surface and cause inaccuracies in the resulting image.
Are the orbs being recorded by numerous cameras or just the one?
Some times dust particles that can be either on the outside of the lens or even inside (factory defect) can cause the types of orbs you are describing.
Lens flare is another cause of those artifacts and results when non-image forming light (other light source such as sun or moon or lights at night outside of target image) that is recorded by the camera's film or digital sensor. The image you posted in the gallery looks like a good example of lens flare.
There are other explanations that could have to do with your cameras digital sensor being defective or even a defect in the cameras software etc.
I'm not trying to be a skeptic but I have I studied photography at university and worked as a photographer for many years and what you are describing is fairly common.
If you have any other photos, I could examine and compare them and give you a better idea of what is going on.
Kind regards,
Chris

I also forgot to mention that using the flash can also cause some interesting things to appear in your photographs.
If for example something small was floating or falling ( rain drop, snow, leaf, moth etc) between you and your subject as you snapped the picture, it can reflect light back to the camera . This is another way things like an orb or unexpected artifact could appear in an image.

Hi Chris
Thanks for your reply... I've posted another picture in my gallery. It's shows hundreds of orbs at a concert. I took a few pictures at that concert and they all came out like that.
I also have some in a forest and some I took at home which show a few here and there... I can post them too if you're interested in seeing them. The funny thing is that although I'm sceptical with an open mind, my mum really believes in them and she wanted to see if we could capture orbs by taking some snaps when we went for a walk. When I was just snapping away at friends and things I wanted pictures of that day they didn't appear, but when I 'asked' them to appear in the photos we took on that walk they did more often than not. Generally I don't ask, only on that walk lol...
They never used to show up on my camera but now they're appearing more and more... I only use the one camera so it could be that there's something wrong with it as you said. It's a Cannon only about a year old
Best wishes

Hi Tuesdays,
Sorry to rain on your mums parade but even after seeing the new photo I'm even more convinced that what you are seeing is just aberrations in the camera lens.
Have you noticed that you see more orbs at night? That is because of how the camera's sensors handle the low-light situations. Plus in low light the camera's flash usually goes off and anything like pollen, dust, insects, ash, snow, etc can create the exact result in a picture.
Also at night as the air cools, f the camera is just a few degrees warmer then the night air it is possible for even a small amount of condensation to accumulate on the lens.
Like I mentioned before, indirect light that is brighter then the overall scene you are photographing can result in lens flare that can be recorded as light orbs. Your concert picture, in my opinion, is so full of the orbs because of all of the other off camera lights, other camera flashes, etc.
Orbs are even more common in digital photos because of how the light is recorded with the pixels, especially in low light situations..like the pics you posted.
I wish I could say that something unusual was happening but its not.
Try a google image search for lens flare and you will see a number of different examples, some very similar to your pics.
If your still not convinced let me know and we'll do a little experiment together. :)
Kind regards,
Chris

To ask is to learn, to learn is to know, thus knoweledge is the ultimate goal!
Hi Tuesdays, from what I have gathered about orbs, they are first part of a materialisation of the spirits vibration in a sphere form. In other word you are seeing the first part of the spirit's vibration within the atmosphere. Remember that cameras and modern camcorders are capable of picking things of higher frequency that our eyes simply cannot. I understand the explainations of above that many are of natural phenomena but true orbs tend to be on their own and quite prononced usually as a blue, purplish or brilliant white light. I hope this helps answer your question.

I like the combination of openness of mind plus trained prdfessional wisdom here. I just hope Richard Q is enjoying this.

Lol that's ok... I'd like to hear about your idea for an experiment. I'm not decided either way to be honest. The pictures I've seen which people use to illustrate as examples of orbs are pretty similar to the ones I've posted for you... I think the picture I've seen which made me think there was might be something in it was of orbs forming a tunnel like pattern in the sky. The guy who took it said the orbs seemed to be starting to put on some kind of show for him. I've never taken anything like it.

Back in February, five days after my cat had died, I decided to take some photos in my bedroom to see if he decided to make an appearance as I had heard this is an idea to bare in mind. I got a couple of photos with an orb moving at slight speed because of the slight double image. In the next photo my other cat was in my bedroom and I decided to call my cat's name (who died) whilst I took the photo and a large white orb appeared. I can only say this.......it could have been dust but since then with numerous photo experiments...nothing of that sort has appeared since.
