I wanted to ask on average, how long does it take for different people to reach an interpretation of a speciffic dream? I mean, accurately, something like a lesson that can be applied... Usually for me, it takes awhile and I'm slow to realize alot of things. I just figured out a dream I had many days ago. What are your experiences? |

Fairly often I can find a satisfactory interpretation of a dream the morning I wake up from it. But there have been dreams I had that I knew were significant, but didn't know how to interpret till decades later.
There was one I had in the seventies that I knew was significant but had no reference point to it till I thought about the different dimensions. Right here lately on Gnosticweb, that is. Now I know what that dream was pointing out, that there are other dimensions.

Hello Apakhana,
I think that sort of thing rests largely on the efforts one applies to the spiritual work as a whole. So the time frame short or large depends on the individual and how much they apply themselves.
I had been doing some investigations into dreams recently and realised just how integral intuition is to many things especially dreams. When this faculty works well there is so much depth in understanding of dreams and the information seems to come in a more profound feeling vastly different to just intellectual analysis.
The Dream Analysis practice given in the Self-Discovery course or alternatively the Meditation practice given in the Gnostic Wisdom are both really good techniques to look at particularly powerful dreams. Additionally, the intuition practice given the Self-Discovery course is good to do daily as it helps with many many things including dreams.
I have found recently that I hadn't been trying to a good enough egree to delve into dreams, both in remembering and understanding them, which held me back advancing understanding in that area. It might be a good idea to be aware of that resistance and look out for it's influence in impeding that active investigation, if it so applies.
All the best with that dream interpretation,
Adam

Reference points are good to have. Every new one is another way of interpetation. In my experince people will recieve impressions unique to their own understanding. No one will be given something by the Divine that they are incapable of figuring out.
Being that dreams are of the mind, they contain only the symbols of one's own archetypical associations....
"...a more profound feeling vastly different to just intellectual analysis."
- I know this feeling too. For me it is more along the lines of insight. I suppose definitons vary as much as archetypes.

Hello Apakhana,
They are some very good insights. I have found the same with symbology being very much catered to the individual, which really reinforces how dream interpretation can only be really understood by the dreamer.
Thanks for your insights,
Adam.

Hello all,
Another aspect to understanding dreams that I have found recently to be quite helpful is to remember the dreams, recall them, while remembering in as much detail as possible. Not discounting anything that seems trivial, weird or unpleasant.
This seems to be really important as from my recent investigations dreams come across somewhat like a tapestry. Each thread or symbol comes together to produce that final message.
Additionally, I have come to see how selective dream recall can be by studying with honest effort only such dreams I deem to be positive (this is happening consciously and unconsciously). This I think has been inhibiting me as negative dreams is where it is at. By seeing them and understanding them we can then make better changes and go forward.
So good to be aware of.
Best of luck to everyones understanding,
Adam.
