Hi everyone
I have done the outer body astral course but I have a problem and I would really appreciate any advice.
If I want to astral project I can mostly do it but I am awake early hours in the morning. There must be a
better way. What works for me is I breath in and out but 9 times out of 10 I fall asleep. If I lie on my
back it is not very comfortable and I am awake for hours. If I perservere I can get used to it and get
more relaxed and can still fall asleep. Last night I tried a different technique. I lied on my side and
I listened to a clock ticking. I gave up after a couple of hours. Perhaps I should try to perservere
with it and see how it goes. The heart beat technique does not work for me because after a while
I cannot hear the heart beats.
Thanks Sally.

Hi Sally,
You could go to a retreat, where it is shoulder to shoulder with others who are trying to project, too. There might be some little thing that over the messages doesn't come clear but in person would come clear. I speak this advice to myself as well. My astral projections are not good. And I did not go to a retreat.

Hi Sally,
I agree with Scot. I also have trouble realxing too, even getting out into the astral. Sometimes I'll be laying there for hours and other times I'll fall asleep in two minutes.
You can try waking up in dreams then, it worked for me. There are a hundred different ways with which people have succeeded with astral travel. Maybe read about Robert Monroe. His techniques helped me and Muldoon and Carrington as well.
Now I'll give the usual reply:
Practice being aware during the day and establish up triggers for reality checking
Here's why, in my experience:
During dreams, things transpire that make sense to the dreaming consciousness because our awareness isn't sharp. But if we practice awareness of our self and surrounding during the day, things in our dream environment, when we dream at night, start to pop out and not make sense. We can question what is happening and realize we're dreaming and go from there.

Hi sally, you can also try imagining the heart beating and being very relaxed to fall asleep. You can fall asleep concentrated on the heart and then be able to stand up in the astral. It doesn't matter if you can't hear the beats, simply concentrate on imagining the heart and relax, and then then you may feel the beats again, you are anyway falling asleep so that your body can rest, it has to be very relaxed.

Thank you all for your advice.
I will give the heart beat technique a good try. I did not think about that. If you cannot hear it, do not worry about it, just imagine it then I may hear it again.

Yes it may. I'd like to mention also, it's important that we don't do it with the goal of feeling something, in that case the beats. So you may be able to hear the beats and feel them or not, but our goal is to relax the body and mind completely, to have the body asleep and rest.
Good luck Sally

Hi Mauricio
Thanks for reminding me, your mind and body has to be relaxed. I was wondering how successful are you with this technique to achieve astral projection. I hope you have many successes.

Hi Sally,
Sometimes I have the same problems when trying to astral project (either falling asleep early or the flip side staying awake all night) and I find it's because I'm not properly concentrated on the practice I'm doing. Under lying egos are generally trying to break up my concentration which then stops the conscious astral split from happening. Do you find the same thing with concentration too!
I've tried sitting up in bed instead of lying down on my back when trying practices to stop the falling asleep too early problem in practices and extra concentration practices too to help develop the concentration of the mind to try to help the being awake all night problem with practices.

Hi Steve
Yes, I do have a problem with concentration. Someone suggested to me to do a meditation on breathing in and out and put a shield around myself so no thoughts will come in. I thought I have nothing to lose. I think it has helped. I must do it again. Perhaps it works or it does not. If you believe it will, it usually does work as the mind is powerful. I hope I do not sound silly. I thought about sitting up but not in bed as it is too uncomfortable so I do not fall asleep. I thought I might try the bean bag but have not as yet. How did you go with sitting up in bed!

Hi Sally,
The mind is a real problem for us sometimes as it's not normally really focused on anything and you can see this in daily activities that we do for example, if you try to be really relaxed when doing any task that you need to do and focus as intensively as you can on it you'll notice that the mind has a natural tendency to wander off thinking of other things, not wanting to really focus on the task, it gets bored etc, etc. and the thing is that when go to do an astral practice the mind wants to carry on with that way of being and won't focus on the astral practices that one's doing. Its a real struggle and effort to keep trying to focus the mind on doing simple things but it well help to build up the concentration which will then benifit your astral practices. Have a go at it during the day and see what you can see.
Sitting up worked well, I was able to go further into my astral practices with out falling asleep so early. It seems like every time I put my head on the pillow the lights go out. Yes if sitting up in bed is uncomfortable try different ways until you find something that works for you.
Let us know how things go
All the best

Hi Steve
After reading your post I will try and sit up in bed. I will get some pillows to get myself comfortable. I changed my mind about the bean bag. I will try and focus more on concentration. Changing the subject a bit, it is wonderful to be able to get ideas, opinions and to be able to read about things from this site. I do not talk about astral projection with my family anymore as they are non believers. I have been told it is best to keep quiet as it may make it more difficult for me to astral project.
Good luck
Sally
