I just finished meditating and decided to work on astral projection. I was very relaxed and had my mind set on what I wanted to do. As I was taking in the sounds around me I remember thinking that everything I heard was very natural then in my head I saw a picture of a woman above me spreading purple light everywhere. I know this sounds weird but i was wondering if this means something?

Also as i was laying there my arms began to move. I wasn't sure if it was my astral body or my physical and I didnt want to move or open my eyes because I didn't want to break my concentration. The movements were very rigid. my hands began lifting up one finger at a time - bone by bone - it was a very odd feeling and i tried not to think about the movement and continued to focus on my goal. It felt as if someone else was moving my arms and holding them up - as i wasn't getting tired and they were up for some time. I eventually decided to open my eyes and my hands fell down on to my chest. It was my actual arms moving - Any ideas what caused this? I've never had this happen before while attempting to project

Thanks

Purple is a color of protection, my guess is it was a guide putting a layer of protection over you, so if you did project you would be less vulnerable. As for the other question i've had jerky movements when I meditate and try to project, but never have my arms started floating.

The purple light could also be to help balance and clear your energies, not necessarily protection specifically (though also possible).

Thanks Patrik,

Again last night while I was trying to project my arms moved up again.  I also felt intense pressure on the top of my legs and they began to lift up as well as my head.  When I opened my eyes I was actually sitting up in bed and my heart was racing.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hi Lazzitha,

When you feel your arms or legs moving it is always a good time to gently get up from bed and to check whether you are in the astral or in the physical.

It may happen many times that we still find ourselves in the physical, but because we train ourselves in this way, we will eventually get up in the astral if we continue. Keep it up, you're almost there!

Hi, I'm new to this site (and the concept of astral projection) but I have practiced qi gong for about 10 years. Spontaneous movement like you describe is very common. During meditation, energy flows through the body and triggers movement without conscious thought. In qi gong you learn to let the energy flow freely and the movements stop unless you want to allow them to occur.
