I have been introduced to this type of mystery when I was 27 years old. Then I meet my wife and poured all my effort in to our relationship. Many years have past since I have was inspired by the mystery (which was indirect from the source I read). It did change my outlook on life though, but I eventually burned up the magnetism between my wife and me and let the ego's take over.

This happened as I was taking night courses in computer networking which have taken great toll on my health. After getting my certification the economy have taken a dive and I never was able to take job in the field I trained for as the entry level requirements climbed. My health went into a bucket and I just did not have it in me to go through another class. It made me literally ill to look at another book. I gave up and let the fascination with computer gaming steel all my time. It literally felt like a candle of my spirit was blown out. When I look back at this time in my life it was ego of pride that have completely swallowed me. I was waiting for death and it was the death of my father in law that awakened in me the thirst for the divine.

I went back to that book that changed my outlook on life before. Practiced the few exercises that were listed and felt and experienced something that I never experienced before. I wanted more so I searched and finally came across Gnosticweb and their teaching. Now my entire life made sense. I could clearly see all the wrong turns I have made in my life and the results that I have learned about is what I have experienced. Things might been better if I encountered Gnosis earlier.

Now I am 44 years old. I wonder if I will be able to ever awaken. Some days are better and some days just don't work out. But when I look back I always see that this was result of my efforts. That I have let the egos have their run and I payed for it. Perhaps at 44 years of age, its easier not to be fascinated with the latest toys and certainly it makes me less emotional about lots of things in life. I have pulled away from the work many times, but eventually the knowing how much better I felt when I was doing the work always calls me back.

It is a hard work, when we suffered before coming to Gnosis it helps us to stay with Gnosis as the suffering returns when we leave the work. If you are young, full of vitality, it might be hard for you to stay away from the temptations of the modern life. I can only assume that it was your inner being that have brought you to Gnosis and it will always pull you back. You could spend all your life going like this and never achieve real freedom, or you can stand revolutionary and break your self free from the strings of puppeteers (the legions of egos) with out going through the same mistakes I and others have gone through.

What might help are great literary works that inspire the love of divine, that inspire the love and compassion for your fellow man kind. Few wonderful books I found are “Fire in the Heart” by Kyriacos C. Markides (who also wrote two other books on the same subject named: “The Magus of Strovolos”, ”Homage to the Sun”). This book was about two Christian Mystical Healers from Cyprus, Greece. These books have for the first time revealed Esoteric knowledge to me. I was taken by it for I have never heard anything like it before. The quoted words of the mystic were filled with Love and Wisdom, just as the words were coming from Jesus Christ him self. The mystic’s real name was Dr. Stylianos Atteshlis, he has formed organization in Cypress Greece named “The researchers of truth” that is devoted in teaching the sacred Gnostic art of awakening our conscience for the purpose of servitude to the fellow man kind.

You can find many other great books listed on the forums here that will inspire and propel you on the path. But the greatest incentive will be your own successes, because they will be the greatest thing that ever happens in your life. they will always keep you coming back for more.

Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

You could try listening to some of Belzebuub's talks here, I find them very inspiring.

It's something we all suffer occasionally, we lose sight of what is most important in our lives. Pray and make efforts to get out of that state, read a book by a real Master, chant a mantra, do a practice, take an awareness walk, do an astral practice, etc., by going against the current you will gain experiences to further motivate you.

Best wishes and much strength,
Jim

Hello Pato,

I find the most important things is to put your foot down, dig in you heels and fight against what keeps dragging you down. Normally it is the daydreams, constant thinking and underlying emotions which bring the states that make us feel like we don't want to practice. So we need to make a goal and then fight as hard as we can to achieve it. Try to do short practices during the day to beak it up and give yourself a boost. What works for me the most is to stop what you are doing every 15- 20 minutes and try to get clear and aware and then go back to fighting against whatever is coming at us. Also if you can set the alarm to go off as often as you can and as you situation allows you to remind you to be aware.Like Jim said ask for help, you can do it every time you stop and try to get clear.

All the strength,

Stas

Hi Pato
what has been suggested will work , as Jim says it is something we all face ,the trick is to not loose momentum and keep at it you are probably doing better than you think and it is the negative side trying to slow you down so don' t fall for that .
stay strong David .

I was sitting under a bridge one time just being aware watching little peices of debris flow along it's downcurrent and realized the water is alot like life and we're the debris.

Bezelbuub, among many others and perhaps even some of you, have realized this or brought this up as a metaphore but I had not come upon this until after I realized it myself, which was a good validation that I was making progress, even then.

Life certainly is an ocean of problems and the revolutionary approach is struggling to fight against it's waves. The minute you stop, the rip tide pulls you under, the current drags you back.

Many things slow us down too, make our fight seem not worth it, etc... we end up just floating through life, having no meaning or neglecting our duty, and then we, the debris, become pollution in the water.

If we allow our own selfishness to define who we are and what we do, then we fail. We have to make even stronger efforts then to achieve any progress.

Just a previous realization I came to, something to share.

Hi PatoZambrano,

Hmmm...interesting thread!

Progress is never, or very rarely is a straight line. In some situations we can have much enthusiasm in a beginning, but later on, things can get boring.

Like it was mentioned, I think the best simple advice is: keep moving! Keep practicing, keep trying and with activity more experiences, more results would come. And then, when things are alive, it's interesting.

Personally when I lose interest in something, I like to investigate in 2 directions:
1-what does really interest me now? Where can it lead? What are the possible consequences? etc.
2-what have made me to lose interest? Pushing too hard? Failure to achieve results according to expectations? Laziness? etc

This investigation can enhance the understanding of what's going on and where to apply efforts.

best wishes!

Hey Pato,

Just thought I would share my first expieience with you.My first proper out of body expierience was last summer. I had woken up in dreams many times before and had felt myself coming back to my body but this was the first time I was aware of the whole process.

I was accually at froggwood wich is the venue for the American retreat, and we were doing wake up practices for Meditation at 5:00 am, after the practice I went back to my room with the full intention of projecting. I used the technique of imagining the heart as a spiritual place and soon fell asleep. I woke up in a state of pure relaxation and I knew I was about to split because I had gotten to that stage before, but instead of ruining it by lettting the mind come in, I just kept concentrating on this relaxed state. Eventually my body began to spin, I was laying on my stomach but I could feel my body rotating head over feet, very odd feeling. On one of these turns I eventually poped out and I was standing up in the middle of the room, amazingly after feeling all the sensations I still wasnt sure because the room was incredibly real just as it was in the physical, so I jumped and sure enough I floated to the ceiling only to come right back to my body with excitment. I know this expierience was short but for me it was truly amazing to verify the split and feel your consiousness go into another dimension. I havent been the same ever since.

Much strength to you.

Rob

Hello Pato,
As the others have stated already, this moments of feeling down are part of the process of wanting to awaken consciousness.
You clearly want to push forward and learn and progress, that is why you are here...and asking for help.
I wish you all the best and hang in there. If you are doing a course at the moment, stick with it and try and practice even if you don't feel like it. it is amazing that by pushing through, even when you feel rotten and unmotivated, you will get the strength to keep going.
