Montreal – Change in the Air (Part II)

The phase II of the project was to start (Fig6) from scratch and to build up a new sound-proof wall to separate the new café from the practice room. Next to this, a castle-like front wall needed to be built too.

The sound proof wall was made sequentially starting from (1) fixing the metal studs, (2) the sound proof material, (3) creating a air column to prevent any sound from crossing and finally (4) by putting the gyproc (fig7). We made the same thing with the front (Fig.8).

To be continued...

Hi Martin,

Good to see you guys are moving along.

Just wondering, what are you using to sound proof the room exactly? That's always been something we'd like to implement for the practice rooms, but we haven't quite found material that actually works as of yet...

Hi Jordan!

Concerning the sound proof, we use some specific materials such as "MDF" sidings (top and bottom), 1/2 inches of pine's studs to create a free space combine with a soundproof wall like "EnerMax"* (these panels are specially formulated to reduce sound transmission through walls).

Dust is a tiny particule, but can create a lot of damages! Does the constituion of the MDF is worst?

Master, I'm taking that special occasion to express you my gratitude. Thank you for your precious guidance...

Sincerly,
