I saw a movie last year that was based on a book called 'Way of the Peaceful Warrior'. The movie was very spiritual, I would say, but not really religious, it dealt, in fact, with a lot of Gnostic things. This guy meets a wise, old man, who works at a gas station, but says that he does it because he gets to serve people. He teaches this kid awareness, the kid has an interesting encounter with his ego, lots of beautiful things. I feel like this is a movie we could all benefit or simply be encouraged from. I could not believe it, I saw the movie.
I think the boy met a Spiritual Master in the physical. There are many stories about this happening.
It could be possible.
The author (the person who actually had this experience) does not seem to know about the Gnostic Teachings.
Thank you so much for sharring, I loved this movie.

I have read an interview with the author of that book and he did admit that the whole book is a fiction. It shows that when ones reads and learns esoteric teachings and learns of others accounts, he can compose together very convincing story. But when I look at how I personally responded to the book, I have to admit that I had desired to meet such guru in my life. That is what have made it convincing to me.
At least he is inspiring the first step into the mystery that could lead one to the truth.
Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

O wow, I didnt know it was fiction...Im even pretty sure that the movie ad said something about 'based on a true story,' but obviously not, if the author said so on TV. I still found the movie very relevant and inspiring, though....its not often that we get a movie about relevant spirituality like that one, usually they just touch on certain themes like forgiveness or the presence of God. But to talk of awareness and destroying the ego in a movie, i thought it was pretty cool
There was one quote i really liked too, something about loving others...i cant quote it directly but it was something like...the people who are the hardest to love are the ones who need it the most....i really really liked that.
Blessings and much love to all of you

Hi All,
Apparently it was loosely based on a true story I know someone who knows Dan Millman quite well and she has met an old friend of his who she thinks he based the character on.
Currently if you want to meet a real Guru listen in to Belzebuub's talks!

I have seen this movie..and I really liked it! From begining to end!!
Defintiely recommend it :)
and in the begining it states that it is based on a true story. I actually looked up that Dan Millman guys website and he said it was a blend of fact and fiction. It doesnt really matter either way..its still a good story/movie!
And I know what quote you are talking about - The people who are the hardest to love are the ones who need love most - or something to that affect. I also like "There's never nothing going on"....

word....I really really enjoyed this movie
I remember a hile ago on Gnosticweb a big list of spiritual and pseudospiritual movies was compiled...perhaps the thread still exists...I think, though, that this movie would definitely make it onto the spiritual side, no?
Btw...has anyone seen the science of sleep? Not a spiritual movie, but it delves into the dreams a lot, rather interesting, I really like it, very interesting and artsy :)
