Dear People, I may be a somewhat strange duck in this pond. I will introduce myself to you. My name is Robert and I chose the nickname Komodo, simply because I love that animal. Nothing special there. I am Dutch, living in the Netherlands. I have been educated in science (I have a masters in pharmaceutical research and have done the work on a Ph.D in neurobiology). Not the background you may expect to find on a Gnostic site, I think. Even as a child, I have been drawn to the astral, the paranormal, the magickal if you will. I am a strong believer in these things, and have had some experiences with really strange phenomena in the past. Call it an OBE which I did not consiously sollicit, but also some negative things that had really scared me as a young boy. Since I am known in my environment as a scientist, and most people would think I am an agnost at best, I have done my utmost not to let on that I am into these things. My wife thinks I own these books (by such authors as Eliphas Levi and Crowley) out of academic interest, but really I read about this to learn, and to be able to may be one day consiously project to the astral plane or, better yet, use my astral body in the physical world to better myself, and to help others better themselves too. regards,
Komodo (Robert) |

Hoi Robert,
Leuk te zien dat er steeds meer Nederlanders op deze site komen :)
I came across this site a few year ago and haven’t left it since. The courses are very clear and if you can make it, try attending the skype talks. They really bring the practises to life. Also the skype talks on saterdays from the master are very inspiring.
Well some background info about me, I studied first IT and after that I studied Management, Economics and Law and I’m 25 years old At the end of this year I’m going to backpack through Australia for a half a year. We all have different backgrounds but for the spiritual work it doesn’t matter.
I hope you find what you are looking for on this site and enjoy the courses.
Groeten,
Roy

Welcome to the site!
I thought for sure this thread was gonna be about martial arts - pardon my ignorance... :-)
That's quite an interesting academic background you've got there - I'm going to be starting medical school this year so I find neurobiology and such very fascinating indeed... You're probably right that our interest in spiritual things is one of those things we might wanna keep a lid on.
All the best with the courses!

Hi Komodo,
Great to meet you!
I know at least a few people being in Gnostic work for a while who either had finished their PhD studies in their respective fields (pretty far from anything spiritual), or presently are in the process of it.
It seems that people from all walks in life can have something common internally, this striving to find more in life, obtain inner knowledge, "know thyselves".
Astral experiences really changed the way I approach my life, I find they have a lot of potential to improve it, as well as to learn how to help more and better to other people.
Good luck with the course!

Hello there Robert,
thank you for introducing yourself to us. We welcome you to Gnosticweb. It seems that you have arrived at the right place; you will definitely learn how to consciously astral project and much more.
I can relate to your apprehensions about sharing your interest in spirituality with others. I have had these for many years as well. From my experience I think we could probably benefit from seeing it as something simple and natural. Our mind can get the better of us at times and complicate things.
I wish you all the best with your new search for inner wisdom. I am sure you will gain much from taking these courses.
All the very best to you,
Patricia

Dear Komodo,
Its great to see fellow scientists having a interest in the spiritual work. I myself am an environmental scientist, a while ago i thought the same thing, that i may be a minority. until i found out my boss was attending the astral lectures..lol.
Although, i dont think that studying science should mean that you have to take on a certain way of thinking though. Ultimately its not about believing or even dismissing, its about experiencing. So this spiritual work is a science in itself.
Your goals are very realistic, and quite achievable, best of luck with it :-)
