Montreal – Change in the Air (Part II)

The Gnostic Montreal Centre is undergoing massive changes at the moment. The main goals of these modifications in the physical structure are (1) to allow more people to eat and to interact with each other while attending the centre, (2) to create a new dynamic within this place, (3) to involve “graduate” and willed students to be part of the new Montreal Gnostic team and (4) importantly, to have a very inspiring place to sit down and relax. The phase I of the project was to demolish two walls (Fig.1 – Montreal’s old centre plan and Fig.2) of the ancient physical structure (Fig.3). As we have already built these walls in the past, it was very clear how the team would act to do this. Some willed students (Fig.4) as well as teachers came for the demolition. There was a lot of energy and enthusiasm in the air (Fig.5). To be continued…

The phase II of the project was to start (Fig6) from scratch and to build up a new sound-proof wall to separate the new café from the practice room. Next to this, a castle-like front wall needed to be built too.

The sound proof wall was made sequentially starting from (1) fixing the metal studs, (2) the sound proof material, (3) creating a air column to prevent any sound from crossing and finally (4) by putting the gyproc (fig7). We made the same thing with the front (Fig.8).
