Toronto Retreat - May 2008

A group shot in the woods
This past weekend, Rich from the USA (online) and Vadim from the Montreal Centre joined teachers and trainees from the Toronto Centre for a strengthening long-weekend retreat. Below are 30 pictures, with captions to explain!

Some go over and some go under...

We often stopped here at a clearing in the woods to try for peace and stillness.

Scenic view - very inviting for the senses, the Awareness.

No comment :-)

Jenny and I in the tower. This is a place where the whole group could climb up (2 long ladders) and then once at the top, we'd do mantras and other types of exercises up there. It was very nice.

This is Jenny coming out of the tower.

Back at the lodge where we could chat, reflect, listen to an inspiring peace of music, read books by the Masters, and so on...

Vadim in the pushup position.

Here we are listening to the inspiring talk on Saturday afternoon. The main lodge/office had wireless internet, so this was a treat! The only thing is we had to be out-of-sight, because someone else had the main lodge booked over the weekend. So it was us, the laptop, and the bugs...

Stas and Vadim look for the deer while I try my hand at bringing them out with a very ancient sacred deer dance.

Success! 2 young ones...

I think Vadim's up to something...

Vadim begins to work his magic trick...

Ruben is the first victim...

Olga and Rich wonder what's going on...

Dara fooled...

Olga fooled...

Jenny fooled... but the gag is up! I guess you had to be there...

Back outside at the beginning of a trail...

Ruben takes a quiet picturesque moment by a river-valley

One of the many nice trails

Stopping to rest atop the trees...

A frequent visitor at the lodge

We forgot to bring anything to roast by the fire, so we had to improvise. Here's Ruben and Vadim roasting of all things, dried figs.

Group shot by the fire on the last night. L-R: Jordan, Jenny, Olga, Rich, Vadim, Ruben, Dara, and Stas.

Hello Jordan,
thanks very much for sharing these pics of the retreat. It looks like a lovely spot where you went walking, etc. Really glad to hear you had such a nice time; you can really tell by the photos that you all enjoyed yourselves. It is quite inspiring as any small group of people could organise to go away on such a retreat in between the larger international retreats.
Regards,
Patricia

I'm really curious about what was in the sink :)
They put a fork underneath
They put a fork underneath the glass plate in the pot and filled it up with water so you couldn't really see the plate and all you can see is the fork but when you reach for it. There was nothing. They tried to trick me too but I knew they were upto no good.

It was a really great learning experience and a lot of fun.
In the beginning, for a different reasons I was almost sure that I won't be able to participate, but then just gave my best try...and things worked out very well.
Thanks a lot to Jordan, Jenny, and Toronto Team for organizing this event.
For the "magic" trick, when I almost had finished to wash the dishes, I couldn't get the last fork for a while, and when figured out what's going on, couldn't miss an opportunity to see how others would act in the same situation.
