Reading through the Nag Hammadi texts, I cam across this passage in the Gospel of Truth:
"Say, then, from the heart that you are the perfect day and in you dwells the light that does not fail. Speak of truth with those who searcch for it and of knowledge to those who have committed sin in their error. Make firm the foot of those who have stumbled and stretch out your hands to those who are ill. Feed those who are hungry and give repose to those who are weary, and raise up those who wish to rise, and awaken those who sleep. For you are the understanding that is drawn forth. If strength acts thus, it becomes even stronger."
I think this highlights an important element of sacrifice for humanity: give what is asked for, not what you want people to have. If people are not interested in Gnosis, don't spoon feed it to them, but give to them according to what they need. If they are sinful, show the consequences of such actions (realistic consequences), which is knowledge/karma. If someone is tired, let them rest. Empathize with those who are sick. And so on.
Peace,
-Julian

so many of such beautifull passages are found in that book the nag hammandi, it has to be the must have;

for this simple reason,verse such as that has power in its reader having read such virtue-ist ideas and added them to the self, ie by speaking the words,from your lips or by reading them in your mind it counts for somthing.

this most likly would have been read in churches of thier time, it is the curriculum  when you think about it the savior owned nothing, he gave his all and was lead in his understanding.
