I find it tends to be the opposite for me, the more I work for spiritual things the more arbitrary horoscopes seem - less in touch with reality. It seems astrology can describe my personality+egos with some accuracy but not much else, personally I don't find them that useful :-)

Just from memory, I can't seem to find it now, I think Samael commented that as we develop spiritually, we liberate ourselves from the astrological 'forces' or 'laws' (or whatever you want to call it) and then they don't really apply like they would to a person who is not doing any spiritual work.

if you are interested in astrology I would suggest "Esoteric Treatise Of Hermetic Astrology", and "Zodiacal Course" by Samael Aun Weor.
You can find a lot of his books online for free. But I would advise you to read "Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology" and "The revolution of the dialectic" first.

Belzebuub has written that astrology has many valid things in it, but we don't study it in these courses because the laws it deals with can be overcome by progressing with the spiritual work.

Personally, I think that knowing something about the laws you are trying to free yourself from can be beneficial, so I think astrology can help us with our inner study, but that is an opinion I could easily change; it is too easy to become very mental with Gnosis...

One of the main problems with the astrology is presented today, is the vast number of pseudo-spiritual books on the topic which are a watered-down or simply incorrect description of the science of the stars. It is true that Samael wrote earlier works on astrology, although they are not on the recommended list and I cannot judge whether they contain many errors.

A horoscope that is found in a regular publication can only go to a certain level of depth, it isn't very personalized and interpreted by a true mystic so it can only be a general description of you and your life.

Just by being aware, watching our dreams and carrying out the analysis of the ego exercise, we can learn a huge amount about ourselves which we don't need any astrology for. And to learn more about astrology, I think one of the best ways to do this is to make friends and get to really know those people who are close to you, and naturally you will start to notice things they have in common, and can find out that all of these are aspects of their birth chart.

If it helps anyone to hear my experience, I can tell you that astrology has never seemed to have any bearing on me as far as future is concerened, but maybe I'm too numb to it to see.

Like Noah63 said, most of it is garbage people make up to extort money out of stupid people that fall into the trap of belief.

Samael's books describe astrology more in depth. I am familiar with Gnosticweb's explanation of why they don't recommend them, but you must realize there's another side to that story...

I agree that any natural law can be overcome by spiritual gnosis gained through hard work.
