One healer mystic that I read about narrated an encounter with a boy that was crippled that his parents brought to him to try to heal him. When the mystic looked at the boy he had feeling that they had meet before . He searched the boy's past lives to find the source of his condition, he found that this boy have lived as pirate captain that was responsible for many deaths of innocent people in his long past. This pirate have even killed this healer during that lifetime. The healer discovered that this being continued to do bad things 2 more lifetimes after and that in his previous lifetime before being crippled he have searched a path of redemption. The healer stated that he has inherited this body to pay off his karmic debt.
So from this perspective we will receive a body that fits best our needs of re-balancing our spirit. By being placed in to suffering it can be viewed as mercy, as we can find remorse and forgive people around us. We also will endure the ignorance from others the way we used to behave. This way we have a great chance to change and grow spiritually.
Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

That's an interesting story and a good topic. I have a pirate in my ancestry and we share the same name.
I think that we may be given situations that seem like good karma but they may just be easier ways to place you into situations you need to be in, in order to learn..
Being attractive isn't always a blessing, it can attract superficiality that one doesn't want to deal with.
I have a lot of different talents that I really haven't figured out what to do with. It's not really anything important so that may be karmic, who knows.
My success is defined as "I'm just happy to be able to do it."
I wish I could see the reason for my current situation but it apparently goes beyond asking to be shown in the astral because that hasn't worked yert, for me.
But the point is that situations are probably there to exact a certain scenario I need to be put in or something along those lines. Perhaps it is Karma that we get an easier lesson or we don't have to learn that particular lesson the hard way.

Goodmorning my friend from Greece.
Karma as far I as understand is a lot more complicated and it depends on one's previous lives.
Your question is very interesting. "Are you what you are, or are you always going to be you?". Am I the female who lives in Greece? Am I the body? Am I my abilities? My personality? When I will die, and I mean this "self"- this "image" , what will stay of all that concept? If you lie down in your bed relaxed, with no thoughts, can you feel "anyone" there? Sometimes when you are so relaxed, you can't even feel your body until you move a part of it. Like a puppet with energy. So as far as I can relate to my body, it is a vehicle I was given to use.
Now about Karma, well I have experienced different situations, and as far as I have discovered, we all get what we need in order to train ourselves. If one, for example, used to be very lustfull , he will suffer in love, generally speaking, don't forget everything I tell you is based on my own experiences, you will have to find out the truth by yourself. As previously mentioned, looks are temporary. Now, one is goodlooking, but what about in 50 or 60 years? Maybe one must be goodlooking in order to fight his vanity, to understand appearance is an illusion.
Karma for me is something one has to pay. It is like you borrowed money and you can't pay it back because you were reckless, spent it all, and now it is payback time. So when it comes to payment, one must do what he or she is asked to do, one must face his own responsibilities and take a good lesson.
But my friend, the truth is that finally one day, as long as we search within, we will find out all our debts. And if we wish we will be brave enough to pay it back.
Enjoy every peaceful moment.

Hi Jens,
I think that we do inherit the circumstances of our lives as a result of actions in previous lives.
This is something that Master Belzebuub pointed out in his live Skype talk last weekend (audio recording of this talk should be available soon on www.belzebuub.com). The Master pointed out that he himself, as a fallen bodhisattva, was born into difficult personal circumstances, but that those circumstances forced him to look beyond his mundane physical life for fulfilment and meaning. It forced him to turn to the spiritual for answers. If he had been born into more favourable circumstances, then it may have been harder for him to see his need to take up the spiritual work.
Your question also reminds me of a story I've heard about a family, where the father was a drunkard, and so was his first son, but the second son was always sober. When the first son was asked why he was a drunk, he said "Look at my father - how could I have become anything else!". The second son was then asked why he was always sober. His answer was "Look at my father - how could I have become anything else?"
I think this story points out that we can either let our circumstances rule our lives, or we can choose to rise above them, and succeed in spite of them - or maybe because of them!
Hope this helps :-)

Hi Jens,
Like it was mentioned in this thread, from the little I understand in some way, karma motivates to learn in one way and dharma in another, both things are helpful, if they are used correclty.
Then it all comes to the present moment, what happens now, in this precious present moment... which will never repeat itself?
Past is gone, and internal states we are in now, are very likely to affect the choices and the things we will do in the close future, and from there it goes...
Scales of dharma and karma keep moving, life is going on, internal changes relate to choices, choices manifest into actions, and actions bring consequences, and so on, it's never really one event, it's always a process....
Best wishes,

I experienced that karma of disease can be slowly undone as I am eliminating egos trough a few years.
VM Samael was stating that more or less all disease is consquence of karma previous lifetimes, and also results in the good or bad you have here now.

There's a lot of reasons we can go through difficulties, certainly isn't always karma. Like the Master mentioned in his talk on My Story 1, that sometimes someone will have a hard time, always seeming like nothing ever works right, because it prevents them from feeling like life gives them what they need, so they start looking at their own psychology, their own actions/reactions, to see what it is that needs to change. Furthermore, often we just have to endure hardships as a sort of test, to strengthen and humble us, etc. If you're interested I think it's a great lesson in the Book of Job.
