I frequently remember dreams that I had months or even years ago. And, I often have dreams in which I return to certain places- sometimes having similar experiences as the the original dream and other times having different experiences. Is there any explanation behind why I so vividly remember so many of my dreams? It's kind of freaking me out. |

Hi,
I too remember dreams. So well in fact, some are more vivid than actual events.
The cause is somewhere in the memory function of the brain and your ability to recall the event from "storage."
In alot of dreams too, I return to places I remember dreaming of before. Some are concoctions of my own mind and others are actual places.
No reason to freak out. It's a good idea to write them down though, there can be some clues into your own psyche within them you may not pick up on right away.

Yes, Apakhana, rather than being freaked out enjoy the delight of remember ing your dreams. The memory of them add a whole new dimension to life and reality. I too remember my dreams and have done since I was a child not only every day and in detail but across my whole life. My dream memory is as long as my reality memory. There are often recurring "storylines" that I re-visit, sometimes with the same role, story, sometimes different but the same place or sometimes completely new "stories". By writing down my dreams over the years, I can see the patterns, symbols and it gives me additional self awareness especially in terms of understanding my egos. I am very grateful that I have the ability to remember so much of my dreams, it is a privelege. Some people dont remember any of their dreams which seems such a loss or lack to me.
Best wishes

I often have dreams where I visit my old house. I am still very much connected to it thus me returning there so much. I even have many dreams where I wake up in my old bed.
I have also had dreams where I continued story lines! Very fun it is, now I have started writing down my dreams so hopefully I will start to have more lucid dreams, havnt been able to have one for a while.

Also I used to never have dreams until I stopped smoking marijuana, its odd how once you quit you instantly start having dreams. I think changes in lifestyle can effect the amount of dreams you have. I have also been focusing now on whether or not I remember dreams in the morning, I never do right away. But once I have a shower etc it comes back. I think this happens all the time though, and if you dont make the effort to remember near the time frame that you wake up you likely will not remember the dream.
Also I think just coming to this site and being a member invokes dreams and lucid states! In me at least :) Dreams are a good thing, we should all love what we can learn from.

Hi A.S,
Remembering vividly some dreams may mean their importance as well as emotional intensity.
It's possible to be guided by Divine in a dreams and to be shown a specific patterns that had to be changed by internal work (doesn't necessarily apply to your case, just an example)
Dreams with a powerful teachings from Divine can stay in the memory for a long time!
Sometimes, an experience in daily life can be powerful emotionally, and feed subconscious elements, and they can repeat that experience again and again, in the dreams.
In any case, like it was said, can look at it differently. Some people don't remember any dreams at all and miss all that learning opportunities and guidance.
As learning takes place, "unknown now can become known later", so, like it was said, even if a dreams are strange now, a habbit of simply writing them down can become helpful later.
