How do you know she didn't do this to many children throughout her life? Maybe she likes children.
One time a friend of mine was a bit out of it, she said, "Oh your aura is really bright!" That kind of thing can be pretty distracting if you let it be. I think it's usually the work of the black lodge, because usually when I see a real Master it doesn't make me feel good about myself, but rather like it's easier to see my defects in the reflection, so it inspires me to be a better person. I think a lot of times people do pick up on maybe something special about someone, but they don't know quite what, but then all those new-agey feel-good egos make them say really ridiculous things that can be quite distracting if we're not used to humbling ourselves.
If we were humble, nothing would change us--
neither praise nor discouragement.
If someone were to criticize us,
we would not feel discouraged.
If someone would praise us,
we also would not feel proud.
--Mother Teresa
Nothing new there, but very simple when put like that :)
I'm not saying this is what you're doing, I'm just talking a bit this morning.

I have one friend that once wanted to show me that he sees something within me that I can't see so he looked at me but it was more like looking through me and said God bless you.
I think everyone is special to say and it is a matter of becoming more aware and begining to see with our heart and soul.
Thanks for the poem or whatever is called Jim! :D

How did she say that? Can you remember?
In this case, "how" can explain "why".
I had experiences with beggars, like learned about dharma thing, that by "helping others we help ourselves", see a beggar, have some change, give it, get "God bless you", answer back "thank you", walk away from it...
Once, some time ago I was at intersection in the car and a beggar-woman passed by with the sign asking for money. She didn't look at the cars, she looked down, so hopeless, while still looking young and full of life.
I stopped her, gave her all the change I could find, it was prepared to pay for parking and the way she said "God bless you" really touched me.
I physically could feel myself stronger after it and closer to hearts of others.
I think, it really depends on how things like that are said...

Thanks a lot for the quote, Jim!

I'm not sure what she would have seen but she must have liked it :-) maybe saw something good. It's nice to know that people can be kind like that and the effect is good especially when the person does it for no gain. It is amazing what a kind word can do.
I can't answer it but your story is a good one.

Graciousness.
Once you experience the love of Christ, it hard not to wish it on to others.
Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

Animation+emotion+thought. Hmmm let's see.
Daily we interact with different people. One day we see someone in a good mood, later he is in a bad mood. A smile, later a frown. A good word, a bad word. A bless, a curse. It is the same story over and over. But what about reality? Can we perceive the truth when we are trapped in our emotions, prejudices and beliefs? A part of us feels happy when surrounded with happy-positive people but another part feels sad when we are with people that some OTHER part of us does not approve. So... where are we? We are not balanced, and it is a fact. Emotions are quick and extremely dangerous. If we are not there, they come very sneaky and choke us. We can spend days and days thinking about something, wondering why we feel the way we feel, and either we find that thing and take it off our shoulders or it drags us in a dream.
My dear friend, I have spent a lot of time with such kind of dreams. Wondering who I am, why did things happened the way they did. And of course the truth is that the mind doesn't have an answer.
If I tell you that a cup is hot, would you believe it? Wouldn't you rather touch it, slowly, in order to experience it yourself? What difference does it make if I know it is hot, if I swear to you it is the truth, if I tell you what I think, if I look like a nice person, if I am beautiful or ugly? Touch it yourself and you would know the truth.
We are here in order to train ourselves. To find out why we make things so complicated. Then, maybe we will be able to learn. Desires, emotions, thoughts. Past and future. Let's get out of that prison and be free.
Strength and clarity to all.

Yeah, we all have a rich history, probably many of us have risen and fallen before. We need to find out why we fell before and how it and what else might be keeping us from rising now. Best wishes,
