When I woke up this morning, I started to come out of my body. I opened my eyes and could see both my astral and physical hand. I started to raise out of my body. I was trying really hard to come completely out, but I just couldn't. I felt a resistance. This has been my problem for a long time. I don't know what to do after the process starts. If I try to actually get out of bed, I wake up. Are there any suggestions as to where to go from this point? Thanks! |

Hi Micah
That is great that you get close to it.
When the projection takes place it is important to let the process happen and to stay focussed on the projection exercise until you have fully projected. If you let yourself be distracted by the sensations and the process happening the practice can be over quickly.
The resistance can be there at the beginning, it can be overcome with more experiences.
Hope that helps you.

Hi Micah,
Besides waiting for the full projection to take place, trying to get up gently without being concerned about what will happen can also help. Just gently try to get out of bed like you would do in the physical.
In the physical world you would also do it without thinking about what would happen. Worries about returning back to the body will usually lead us back to our body, because that is where our mind is at that moment.

Hi Micah,
I have your same problem alot too. GEtting halfway up and then it feels like a thousand rubberbands pulling back at you.
Martijn made mention of some things I found true in my experience, trying to get up gently without being concerned about what will happen. Alot of times I am just trying too hard.
Last time I popped out I didn't know I was in the astral. I figured I'd just get up anyway and go to the kitchen and when I threw the covers off I floated up, so it probably helps to not think about what is happening and just go with it.
It's true we do things while awake without thinking about them. If I think about pushing my hand through a window, it won't do it but if I don't think about it and just concentrate on the other side, the astral hand slips right through.
Where our mind is at the moment also has some bearing on what we perceive. When waking from a dream, I find it impossible to not slip back into one.

That all makes a lot of sense. I do try too hard and worry that I will be brought back to my physical body. Thanks everyone for your help!

That's great to hear Micah. I bet that was a really nice way to start the day. Yeah, I find that practice and intent to get out make a big difference. I am sure that if you keep going, you'll succeed.
Another thing that can help is to look into any similar feelings or experiences during the day. So, for example, in this case, you could try to make sure that you remain calm during stressful events throughout the day. This can help train you to approach situations in that way at other time (like when you wake in the astral).
Thanks for posting your inspiring update!

Oh thanks. It was definitely a good way to start the day. :)
Hmm I never really thought about it that way. I'll have to pay more attention to that.
