Hello everyone, I've been struggling with this for about most of the year now. I've been trying to get back into astral projection, self knowledge and etc, but as of late, and as life stresses occur more frequently, I've noticed an increase in intensity of my ego's. From being lazy, to anger issues and jealousy....this is really hindering progress in my personal journey. Any tips on how I could get back on track mind, body and soul? Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you. |

Hi Araeon
The study of the egos helps with this, it is done in the self-discovery course, and I would recommend doing it, then you get a deeper understanding of the egos and the conditions that they bring to the psyche.
Later on, in the gnostic wisdom course, you learn how to work upon the egos, so that they go away.
Good luck

Best way to get back is with awareness. Listen to the beginning lessons about awareness from Self discovery class.
In case you have not taken it yet try these exercises ( i highly recommend on taking it. it is the foundation of any spiritual work):
when you work or doing something try to be aware what you are doing, where you are ( by looking around yourself) location awareness. If you loose your self in thoughts re-focus again in what you are doing, let go of the thoughts.
next step is directed focus awareness or deliberate focus. for about 5 to 10 minutes a day. In this you take time out from regular life and take any object (nature made preferable) and focus your attention on observing this object. when you find your self drifting in thoughts - refocus again. This train you to focus on the outside as well as on the inside.
next try visualization exercises, focus on object then close your eyes and hold on to that object in your mind, when you loose it, open your eyes again and look at it again, then close eyes again.
your goal is to live in the present moment of your five senses and not in your mind of past and theories of future.
It is our mind that that keeps us away from astral, learn to be the master of your mind, and astral will be at your will.
Wishing you all a great spiritual morning.

Hi Araeon,
To begin this change and to break through egos can be not easy because processes have inertia, and psychologically we can meet a lot of resistance when starting to change.

For inspiration and more understanding maybe you can listen to a recent talk by Belzebuub about freedom.
In "Revolutionary Psychology" written by Samael Aun Weor there are whole chapters explaining in details how ridiculous it is to be in a negative states, how our life gets controlled by "I"s replacing each other and fighting for supremacy, and how to deal with that.
Here are the links to Their Works,:

In terms of the practices: awareness walks can create a lot of momentum and generate strength for spiritual progress to occur.
Here is a thread from a students about their first experiences of awareness and what it takes to get there.

What practices do you like the most, what do you feel like doing? Can start with your favourite ones, the ones which work for you the best, and then introduce all other practices into the framework, completing it.

Recently, wrote a post about diary, from personal experiences diary is a great tool to plan, monitor and correct internal progress.

Hello Araeon,
The situations of life can be very tough sometimes, I can vouch for the stress and challenges you mentioned. When trying to become spiritual we are going against the normal, passive and reactionary way of living. And for that to leave on its own will not be a simple shaking dust off our shoes : )
When things are difficult it can seem like all we know of spirituality has dissipated, so we have to find a way to keep that alive even when we are in tough situations.
What helps for me is to have inspiration, clear goals, and that sense of spirituality within (peaceful states from the consciousness from being aware) that turns into a source of strength and can really help guide me during difficulties. I'd recommend doing whatever you know of that helps to strengthen that spiritual part within. For example listening to some inspiring music, I personally really enjoy classical music like Beethoven, Handel etc.. which helps me to feel some of those spiritual states.
Strengthening the essence gives a big boost to our own work and the journey we are taking. And its such experiences that help us remember that there is something more meaningful then an argument, uncomfortable situation etc...
Doing spiritual practices like mantras, going for awareness walks helps with this too.
Its inevitable that there will be difficult times ahead of us, so a clear understanding of the egos helps. With the elimination technique, we can get rid of the egos that cause the difficult states and get into clear and blissful ones.
If you haven't taken the courses here I'd also recommend them.
I wish you all the strength Araeon,
Olga

Hello Araeon,
My advice would be in support of all the above, with the addition of just going head on against egos, try to stop at nothing.
Will power is your sword.
In this inner work, I have noticed that any hesitation only raises dust in the air, which clouds our site from seeing where we need to go.
Just go! Do it now. No hesitation , just be swift. You will get knocked down I assure you, but the most important thing is that you get back up right away and move on with out stopping.

Hi,
I just wanted to mention that in my case, the most rewarding times are the ones that are fought over.
If I am having trouble with being aware or fighting a selfish behaviour, there is no greater feeling than coming out on top of it.
It feels worse to give into something you know you shouldn't, like getting angry, and then feeling bad because of it later.
It's kind of like the work is it's own reward sort of thing.

Araeon,
These are all great comments full of excellent advice. In addition, you might try a little extra physical exercise. Besides its obvious benefits, it can also be very meditative.

Yea I work out on a regular basis about 4 days a week, weights & cardio. It definately helps with mood. I've been practicing awareness more and more lately. My dreams have started to come a bit more clearer and lucid as of late. So I assume my efforts are paying off. I was even shown a symbol in a dream two nights ago...very inspiring, let's me know that I'm making progress. That dream gave me direction into exactly what I need to take care. All advice is being taking and put into action...thx guys

Hi Araeon,
I think you describe what every one of us struggles with at some time or another. It can sometimes be overwhelming, and we feel our lives so far from where we want them to be, that we don't know where to start to get them back on track.
One way that I've found that helps, is to first set myself "baby" goals for a while. And whatever that baby goal is, to make sure that I do it, and do it well, for a whole week. That way you will get to feel some progress, and understand that you can actually accomplish things you really focus on.
Then, gradually increase your baby goals, just a little at a time. If you shock the mind and the body too much, they may rebel, and make your task harder, so baby steps are important. The key thing is to start - and start small, building gradually. A diary is a big help as well - but only if you use it!
Sounds like you are on the right track, so keep it going - the feelings of success in what you're doing will help to motivate you to keep going - Stay strong!
Regards,
Vicki
