I was just wondering... have anybody in here had any succes with Robert Bruce's Rope Technique? I've been trying it out for 1½ week (every night) and have almost been succesful in getting an OOBE (I believe...) But the threads I read in this forum is all about staying relaxed and waiting for the astral body to get out for itself (am I right?) Have anybody tried both? and what would you recommend for a beginner (and a well motivated future-astral-traveller : )) |

Hi Skywalker,
Good to hear that the technique is working; there are actually several techniques to get into the astral consciously and all of them are based on concentration. When we get the concentration right we will be able to project at the moment of sleep.
On the courses techniques like concentration on the heart or visualisation of the heart are used and also mantra's based on a combination of sounds to activate the different chakra's, which will assist with astral projection.
I actually have never tried the rope technique, but I can imagine it is very useful, because the concentration in motion can assist to keep the mind concentrated. When you visualize yourself moving the mind tends to stay focussed for longer periods (anyway, that is my experience).
What I would recommend for a beginner is to approach each individual practise with an open mind and to remain patient (even if the practise yields no results). Furthermore I would recommend to train concentration by doing small concentration exercises during the day.
All the best and enjoy the astral

I will indeed be joining the courses on OOBE. I'm not sure how good the Rope technique is, I can definately feel a lot of pressure on what should be my Astral Body when i do the "rope". But it is also putting a lot of strain on my physical body... the 3-4 times i felt like i was almost out. My muscles have felt like i have been working out, I guess it shouldn't be that way - so getting the balance right between mentally "grinding your teeth" and physically being relaxed is hard.
Also I get a lot of exit-sensations: heart beating, breath getting heavy, vibrations so that makes it even harder.
but hey... I've only been trying less than a month and the things I've discovered about myself to this point have been incredible. It makes me feel like a whole new world have been opened up - due to the fact that (i think) i know i actually have an astral body. I do hope that i will be able to get a real OOBE within reasonable time. maybe tonight ; )

It can take some time to find the balance for relaxation and concentration, but it looks like you are already advancing quickly.
When all kinds of sensations arise while doing the practise, the best thing is to ignore them and to keep focussed on your concentration or visualization exercise.
Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the replies Martijn. I'm really very interested in astral projection, but as long as I haven't "been there" - I can't really contribute with much in these forums. I hope that i one day can be as helpful as you and many others in these forums. Thanks again.
