Hi everyone.. I'm from Denmark and has been following this site for a month or so... I have been trying to get out of my body for 4 weeks - and I think I'm getting pretty close. I've tried several techniques but for the last 1½week i've been trying Robert Bruce's Rope Technique.

3 times the last week I think i've been really close - I lay in my bed, do some relaxation-exercises, feeling the body fall asleep and then i try doing the Rope-technique. I almost instantly get the buzzy feeling and feel the trance-state coming, my heart beats strongly, I can feel my body/(astralbody?) getting swollen , then i get a lifting feeling as if my body is trying to float up... but then it seems that nothing else happens from there... My physical body is trying to rise up as well and because the next step (the exit) doesn't happen I can't maintain this position, so i try to get up, (thinking that the body might get out... off cause it doesn't...) and it ends and i'm completely exhausted - and my body feels like i've been working out all night.

One of the 3 times i had the vibrating feeling in my body and this went on for a few minutes after i've stopped trying.

I guess I have to try and let my body stay relaxed, but it feels like it is lifted up, also i think my eyes open up and i can see the room around me.

Through it all I try to keep pulling the "rope" - and i use a lot of will-power (as described by Robert Bruce)

Hope my story doesn't sound like a mess... can anyone give me some tips (on anything really (ok... on OOBE, not anything ; )))

I've heard of the Rope Technique, but I cannot find any instructions on it.

Hi Skywalker,

Maybe it can help to relax more into visualization part...and just let the process to take place more naturally?

I am asking it, because for me it's hard to distinguish mental effort from physical and when I try really hard mentally, I tend to tense up too, and these areas of tension lock physical and astral bodies.

One of the tips can be to increase time for relaxation before a practice, take as much time as it is needed to relax completely and keep the same state while visualization/concentration.

No, you story doesn't sounds like a mess, at least for me, good luck with practicing!

Thaanks for sharing!!

Hi Skywalker,

Another tip would be try not to get to distracted by any sensations you may experience, but try to stay concentrated upon whatever technique you are using.

all the best,

Marc

I used to try the rope technic when i begun trying to get out, never really worked till the end for me then so i just went with the "just get out of bed like you would normally do, when you feel the time is right" technic.

Its simpler and it leaves you less time to be distracted and spoil the experience.

Thanks everyone for your good advice... it think you're right Vadim - I do tense up all too much and it IS very hard to keep the effort used in the rope-technique mental-only... so maybe I should try the "get out of bed-technique" mentioned.

When do I try to get out and how? during vibrations (?)and should i just roll over over get up naturally?

Fish: The rope-technique can be found at {link removed in accordance with the terms of use of the site. Thanks for your cooperation. Gnosticweb Moderators} - This technique really convinces any newbie-astral-projector (myself included) that there really is an astral body. The sensations sets in almost immediately - I don't need to get out of my body to be convinced after trying the rope-technique (although I really want to... ; ))  Theres something in there and it really wants to come out, if only my physical body wasn't so eager to go along for the ride : )

Judging from my experiences and from what i've heard at the centre's session teachings, the vibration stage is where the ties that hold the physical and the astral body together, become loose.

It's not the appropriate moment to try coming out. If you manage to stay calm through the vibrations state, they subside and then you can get out.

If you try coming out too early, you may either wake up or feel a difficulty separating. Sometimes for me this feels like i'm tractored back by rubber bands.

That's very interesting what you wrote, Skywalker about trying rope technique to get the sensations and therefore, some sort of "proof" of astral body existence. I tried it too and also got sensations very fast...

With astral projection, the whole idea is to be conscious in the moment of falling asleep, so it takes combined relaxation (to fall asleep) and concentration (to project).

Like George said, can only agree with him that vibrations stage is too early to get up because astral and physical bodies are still locked at that moment.

From what I understand, what is important here, is to stay very concentrated during the whole process of separation, and to ignore vibrations and whatever other sensations take place because they can easily disrupt concentration...

...then at a certain point, finally, physical body falls asleep, and there is a certain feeling of being separated, certain symptomes of it (can be one of them, all of them, or none of them: feeling totally numb and still being able to move somehow, buzzing sound, electrical sensation passing through the body, etc.)

If you are concentrated, if you are conscious at that point, you feel that you are "out" very clearly, you just know it.

Then, it's important to remain focused and gently roll to the side and slowly get up, or just get up, but again, it's the best to do it very slowly.

Just in case, if you have not heard about it yet, the program of OBEs course here can be very helpful to learn more about those skills.

Good luck with the practices!

I've signed up for the OBE course, and i'm looking forward to it.

I've been trying not to do "the rope" (it's tempting) the last couple of nights. I had a few days without any OBE attempts (i felt mentally exhausted and couldn't concentrate at all)

It takes a bit longer to get the sensations - i didn't quite make it to the "vibrations" but i believe it's because my i need to practise my concentration.

Yes, Vadim, I think that the "Rope-technique" is worth trying out if you want to get a glimpse of what could be expected. It will definately make you even more curious and determined to make it out of the body. It doesn't require a whole lot of concentration-mastery or anything else but the will to try. But it seem that in the end it still takes a lot of practice to actually get out of the body without the concentration-skill needed.

Thanks everybody for the good advice... (hmm... every"body" just doesn't seem very fulfilling to use in here : ) ) I'll see if i can get to the point where i'll be able to roll out of my body - while maintaining concentration... (phew...)

One day I will... The "stories" I read at this site, are to good to be missed. So I'll make sure I can write a few of my own before to long ; )

I'm very certain you will make it Skywalker, as long as you persist to your efforts. You don't have to force it, do your practices only when you feel like it otherwise you'll end up feeling that you're doing something unpleasant.

Just like you, i begun trying to get out of body (and failing at the begining). Each week i made a step forward, now its much easier for me although sometimes i can't help it and still get distracted by the buzzing sound (thus spoiling tha experience). Had some very good ones though concidering its only two monts i've been experimenting with OBEs.

Thanks for the confidence in me ; )  I'll make it a lifestyle, and not a quick "fling" (is that a real word? : )) making it out of my body. I really feel sucked into this hidden aspect of life already - so I don't think it will go away.
